Welcome to Colony Flow Level 109 where you tackle a massive pixel art puzzle. You face a giant yellow duck character with a huge orange bill and purple question marks floating above its head. The massive solid blocks of color require careful block management so your waiting slots stay open. I played this board multiple times to find the absolute best route through the colors. You will need to carve paths through the outer background before you can even touch the main character.
Colony Flow Level 109 Overview
What You Are Working With
The board presents a large pixel art picture entirely surrounded by a light blue background. A black outline defines the shape of the yellow duck. Inside that black outline you have a yellow body and a gigantic orange bill right in the center of the face. Above the head sit three distinct purple question marks. The bottom of the screen holds your block tray. You will see blocks with numbers like light blue 45, purple 26, yellow 25, and orange 43. The tray feeds your five waiting slots. The ants emerge from a single dark nest hole positioned right at the bottom center of the board. The moment the ants step out of the hole they immediately run into the light blue background tiles framing the bottom edge of the picture. There are no special tiles like chocolate or locks on this board. You only need to deal with solid color tiles.
What It Takes to Clear Level 109 Board
You need to work from the outside in and then from the bottom to the top. The ants cannot reach the orange bill or the yellow body until you break through the light blue background and the black outline. If you pull an orange block too early it will sit in your waiting slots and do nothing. You have exactly five waiting slots to hold your active blocks. Fill all five slots with blocked colors and you lose the level instantly. You must pull blocks that match tiles the ants can physically walk up to and eat. Keeping a clear physical path from the nest hole to your target tiles is the only way to survive.
Colony Flow Level 109 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the bottom background to open the outer paths
The first tiles your ants touch are the light blue background tiles at the very bottom. Tap the light blue block from your tray to move it into a waiting slot. You will see a high number like 45 on this block. The ants will stream out of the nest and start eating the bottom corners and the edges leading up the sides. You will notice the block number counts down rapidly as the swarm consumes the tiles. Keep an eye on the tray and pull another light blue block when the first one runs low. You want the ants to clear a wide path around the bottom so they can reach the black outline of the duck feet. Do not pull any yellow or orange blocks yet because the ants have no way to reach the inner picture. Your waiting slots must stay dedicated to light blue right now.
Step 2: Break the black outline to access the inner colors
Once the bottom light blue tiles vanish the ants hit the black outline at the base of the duck. Now you need to tap a black block into your waiting slots. You will see a black block with a high number like 46 appear in the tray. Pull it up. The ants will march over to the black tiles and start dismantling the border. Breaking this black barrier is exactly what you need to do to open up the yellow body. While the ants eat the black tiles they will also continue walking up the left and right sides to eat more light blue background. You can safely keep a light blue block in your waiting slots alongside the black block to maximize your clearing speed. This dual path approach keeps your slots flowing perfectly.
Step 3: Send ants into the yellow lower body
With the bottom black border gone the yellow tiles of the duck body become exposed. Tap a yellow block to send your colony inside the picture. The ants will flood into the lower body and begin removing the yellow pixels. The yellow blocks in your tray usually hold numbers in the twenties like 25 or 24. You might need to pull two of them in sequence to keep the ants moving through the belly. Make sure you leave at least one or two waiting slots open at all times. Never fill all five slots at once unless you are absolutely sure the ants have open physical paths to every color you selected. The yellow tiles will clear out quickly and reveal the lower edge of the giant bill.
Step 4: Devour the large orange bill in the center
As the ants chew through the yellow belly they will finally touch the massive orange bill taking up the center of the face. This bill contains a huge number of tiles. Look at your tray and pull an orange block. You will see an orange block with 39 or 43 on it. Bring it up to the active slots. A massive swarm of ants will detour from the yellow body and start eating the orange bill. This is a very satisfying moment as a huge chunk of the center picture disappears. Keep your black and light blue blocks active in the slots too. The ants on the outer edges are still slowly working their way up the black outline and the side background tiles. Balancing the orange center with the light blue outer edges keeps your colony highly efficient.
Step 5: Remove the upper yellow head and eyes
After the orange bill is completely gone the ants have full access to the upper half of the duck head. Tap another yellow block into your active slots. The colony will climb up through the empty space left by the bill and attack the top of the head. At the same time they will clear out the black tiles that make up the eyes. You should have a black block running to handle those eye tiles and the top border of the head. By this point the bottom half of the board is completely empty. The ants have to walk all the way from the bottom nest hole up to the top half of the screen. Give them time to make the walk before you assume a slot is stuck.
Step 6: Tackle the purple question marks floating above
The ants finally break through the top of the duck head and reach the open space above it. Here they will encounter the three purple question marks. Look for a purple block in your tray. You will see one with a 26 on it. Tap it into a waiting slot. The ants will climb up and consume the purple tiles. You must be careful here. If you pull the purple block before the ants breach the top of the head the block will just sit in your tray and waste a precious slot. Timing is everything on this board. Only call for purple blocks when the black outline at the top of the duck is completely breached and the ants are standing next to the question marks.
Step 7: Clean up the final top background tiles
The only things left on the board are the purple question marks and the top layers of the light blue background. Your tray will offer plenty of light blue blocks. Pull them up into your slots. The ants will spread out across the very top edge of the board. They will eat the last remaining light blue pixels. You might need a final black block to finish off the very last piece of the duck hair outline. Let the ants do their work and watch them clear the corners. Keep your slots strictly limited to light blue and purple for these final moments. Once the last tile is eaten the colony will finish the board and you will win the level.
Final Thought
Clearing this massive pixel art duck requires patience and strict slot discipline. You must respect the physical walls of the puzzle and only pull colors your ants can touch right now. Take your time and let the outer paths open up before you dive into the center colors.
