Colony Flow Level 404 presents a fun clown face picture but hides half of it behind two massive blockers. I found that managing your waiting slots is the real challenge here because one of the blockers requires a color you cannot even reach at the start. I play every level myself and I can tell you that following the right sequence is the only way to avoid a jam. Follow my moves below to keep your ants flowing and beat this board.
Colony Flow Level 404 Overview
What You Are Working With
The puzzle board features a large pixel art picture of a clown face. The top half shows bright red hair, a crisp white face, black eyes, a light blue outline, and an orange background. The bottom half of the board is completely covered by two massive Hungry Doors that block your ants from reaching the tiles underneath. The Left Hungry Door requires sixty red tiles to open. The Right Hungry Door requires five brown tiles to open. The tray at the bottom provides blocks in light blue, red, black, orange, white, brown, and green. You have exactly five waiting slots to hold these blocks while your ants travel.
What It Takes to Clear Level 404 Board
To win this level you must clear all the color tiles to reveal the full picture and let the ants finish their routes. The main obstacle is the pair of Hungry Doors dominating the lower half. You have to feed the Left Hungry Door first because the brown tiles needed for the Right Hungry Door are trapped completely underneath the left one. If you pull a brown block into your waiting slots too early you will waste a slot and risk a permanent jam. You lose the level if all five waiting slots fill up and no ants can reach their matching tiles on the board. Your entire strategy must revolve around feeding the left door while keeping enough slots open to cycle through the tray safely.
Colony Flow Level 404 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Open the bottom center path to reach the red bow tie
Start the level by pulling the first light blue block from the tray into your waiting slots. This action releases a stream of light blue ants that march up the center path and begin eating the lower edge of the clown face outline. Clearing these initial light blue tiles is absolutely essential because they block access to the red bow tie located just above them. You cannot make any progress on the door until you reach that bow tie. Once the light blue ants clear a solid path you should immediately pull a red block into your slots. The red ants rush in and start clearing the bow tie. Every single red tile they consume subtracts from the sixty red tiles required by the Left Hungry Door. Keep a close eye on this number as it dictates your next moves.
Step 2: Clear the outer orange background to create side routes
While the red ants work diligently on the bow tie you need to keep the rest of the board active and flowing. Pull an orange block to send orange ants to the top left and top right corners of the background. The orange ants sweep up the sides and clear massive sections of the outer board. This opens up wide spacious paths along the outer edges of the red hair. With these new side routes open you safely pull another red block from the tray. These new red ants travel up the side paths and begin eating the large sections of red hair at the very top of the head. This dual assault on the bow tie at the bottom and the hair at the top drops the Left Hungry Door count rapidly and keeps your slots clear.
Step 3: Uncover the top half of the white face
As the red ants chew through the thick hair the inner sections of the face become accessible. Pull a white block into your waiting slots so the white ants can start clearing the forehead and cheeks. Pull the black block to let the black ants eat the eyes and nose details. During this phase your tray reveals several other colors including a brown block. Leave the brown block in the tray. The five brown tiles required for the Right Hungry Door are completely hidden right now. Pulling the brown block now traps it in your waiting slots and pushes you directly toward a game over condition. Focus entirely on dispatching the red white and black tiles.
Step 4: Finish the red hair to open the Left Hungry Door
Keep cycling through red and white blocks as they appear in the tray. The red ants finish the last few pieces of the clown hair at the very top of the board. Watch the number on the Left Hungry Door tick down to zero. When the counter hits zero the massive left door disappears from the board entirely. This reveals the hidden bottom left corner of the puzzle. Underneath the door you will find the missing piece of the white face along with a piece of the red bow tie, a light blue outline, and a crucial patch of brown background tiles.
Step 5: Send brown ants to open the Right Hungry Door
This is the moment you have been waiting for. Now that the brown background tiles are exposed in the bottom left corner you finally pull the brown block from the tray. The brown ants immediately flood into the newly opened section and consume the five brown tiles. As they eat these tiles the counter on the Right Hungry Door drops to zero. The right door vanishes and reveals the final hidden section in the bottom right corner of the board. You now have a full view of the entire clown picture including some green tiles at the very bottom.
Step 6: Flood the bottom section with white and red ants
With both Hungry Doors completely out of the way you have a massive open space to work with. Pull the next available white block and red block into your waiting slots. The white ants flow down into the bottom corners of the face completing the cheeks and chin. The red ants finish the remaining sections of the bow tie on both the left and right sides. Because the board is wide open you do not have to worry about paths dead ending. Just keep pulling the blocks that match the largest clusters of remaining colors to maintain a steady flow.
Step 7: Deploy light blue and green ants for the lower details
The bottom edge of the picture features a continuous light blue outline and a green collar. Pull a light blue block to send ants around the lower perimeter. They trace the bottom edge and close the shape of the face. Next pull the green block from the tray. The green ants march straight down the center and clear the collar tiles. Make sure you only pull the green block after the white ants clear enough of the face to give the green ants an unobstructed path. Managing this specific order keeps your waiting slots moving smoothly.
Step 8: Clear the final orange background tiles to win the level
The only tiles left on the board are a few orange background pieces in the bottom right corner and a stray red tile. Pull the final orange block from your tray into the waiting slots. The orange ants sweep into the bottom right corner and eat the last remaining background tiles. Once the final tile disappears the board is completely clear. The remaining ants exit the screen and you win the level. You successfully navigated the tricky hidden tiles without ever jamming your slots.
Final Thought
Level 404 tests your patience and your ability to plan around hidden obstacles. By holding off on the brown block until the left door opens you guarantee your waiting slots remain clear and functional. If you find any of these movements tricky to visualize I highly recommend watching the video above this article. Seeing the ants clear the paths in real time makes the exact timing much easier to understand.
