Welcome to Colony Flow Level 235. This puzzle tests your patience and your ability to manage narrow paths around a large obstacle. You face a large pixel art picture of a ramen bowl that requires many different colors to clear. A central block forces your ants to take long routes around the edges at the start of the level. You must plan your moves carefully to keep your waiting slots empty and your ants moving forward.
Colony Flow Level 235 Overview
What You Are Working With
The pixel art picture for this puzzle is a delicious looking bowl of ramen. The image features a brown bowl decorated with a horizontal red stripe. Inside the bowl you see yellow and white sliced eggs along with green onions and pink swirl fish cakes. Two tall black and dark red chopsticks stick out of the left side of the bowl. A light blue rim of broth sits right at the top edge of the bowl. The entire picture rests on a massive white background.
Right below the picture sits a large chest block holding the number 20. This chest blocks the direct path out of the nest hole. Your ants must walk around this chest to reach the bottom edges of the picture. The tray at the bottom of your screen contains many numbered blocks. You start with visible blocks in colors like white, green, brown, red, and black. Behind these front blocks sit several grey blocks with question marks. These are Hidden Box tiles. A Hidden Box hides its color until it has a valid path to move forward in your tray. You also have five waiting slots just above the tray where your pulled blocks sit before the ants finish their meals.
What It Takes to Clear Level 235 Board
To win this puzzle you must clear every single colored pixel art tile from the board. You do this by pulling colored blocks from the tray into the five waiting slots. When a block sits in a waiting slot the matching colored ants stream out of the nest hole. The ants walk along the open paths to reach and eat the matching colored tiles. Every time an ant eats a tile the number on the block counts down by one. When the block number reaches zero the block disappears from the waiting slot.
The main challenge is keeping your waiting slots from jamming. If you pull blocks into all five waiting slots and none of those ants can reach their target tiles you lose the level instantly. You must always maintain at least one open path for your active ants. The large chest in the middle of the board also requires your attention. The number on the chest counts down as you clear tiles near it. You need to chip away at the board safely without trapping yourself so the chest eventually reaches zero and disappears.
Colony Flow Level 235 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: You start by opening the bottom corners with the white and black blocks.
You begin by pulling the White 35 block into your first waiting slot. The white ants emerge from the nest hole and immediately split left and right to walk around the central chest. They head straight for the bottom white outline of the bowl. This bottom layer acts as a barrier protecting the rest of the picture. Next you pull the Black 32 block into the second slot. The black ants follow the same outer paths to reach the dark black outline forming the bottom edge of the ramen bowl. Let these two colonies work on the bottom corners to open up more paths higher up the board. If you pull too many blocks right now they just sit in the waiting slots and risk a jam.
Step 2: You deploy the green and light blue blocks to clear the inner toppings.
Once the bottom corners open slightly you gain access to some of the inner bowl tiles. Pull the Green 10 block from the tray into an open slot. The green ants navigate up the sides and target the green onion tiles scattered near the middle of the bowl. Then pull the Light Blue 29 block to start working on the liquid broth rim lining the top edge of the bowl. Keep watching your five waiting slots. You currently have four slots filled. You must wait for one of these blocks to reach zero and disappear before you pull another block that lacks a clear path.
Step 3: You use the brown block to clear the wooden base of the bowl.
Your black and white ants eventually clear enough of the bottom outline to finish their numbers. When a waiting slot opens up you pull the Brown 22 block. The brown ants march out and start eating the wooden texture at the base of the bowl. As the ants consume these brown tiles you notice the central chest number drops from 20 down to 16. The chest responds to the clearing of adjacent tiles. By focusing on the bottom of the bowl you actively weaken the chest while progressing through the main picture.
Step 4: You attack the red stripe and the tall chopsticks with the red blocks.
Pull the Red 30 block into an open waiting slot. The red ants have two main targets on this board. They eat the red decorative stripe running across the middle of the brown bowl. They also travel all the way up the left side of the screen to eat the dark red sections of the chopsticks. This long travel time means the red block sits in your waiting slot for a while. You must be patient and allow the red ants to make their long journey. Do not flood the remaining slots with blocks that cannot reach their destinations.
Step 5: You send the yellow and pink blocks to eat the eggs and fish cakes.
As you clear the front row of the tray your Hidden Box tiles move forward and reveal their true colors. Pull the Yellow 14 block to send ants after the two egg yolks sitting in the middle of the broth. You also uncover a Light Skin Pink 17 block. Pull this pink block into a slot so the ants can eat the pink swirl patterns on the kamaboko fish cakes. Clearing these center tiles continues to drop the number on the central chest. The chest soon reaches 8 and gets very close to disappearing entirely.
Step 6: You clear the upper black bowl outline to shorten the walking paths.
You find more black blocks in the tray including a Black 17 and a Black 30. Pull one of these black blocks to send ants after the remaining black outline on the upper half of the bowl. These ants also help clear the thick black sections of the chopsticks on the top left. The black ants walk a very long path around the outer left edge of the picture to reach the top of the chopsticks. Keep your other waiting slots clear so the black ants have time to finish their long walk without causing a dangerous jam.
Step 7: You flood the board with white ants to clear the massive background.
When the central chest finally hits zero it vanishes from the board entirely. This is a massive relief because it opens a huge direct path straight up the middle of the screen. Your ants no longer have to walk all the way around the outside edges. Now is the time to tackle the huge white background. The tray contains multiple White 35 blocks and a White 40 block. Pull these white blocks into your waiting slots. The white ants flood straight up the middle and rapidly devour the white background tiles. Because the direct path is open the white blocks clear out of your waiting slots very quickly. This fast clearing speed keeps your waiting slots cycling smoothly.
Step 8: You finish the chopsticks and the remaining background tiles to win.
As the white background shrinks you see a few remaining dark tiles on the top left. Pull the final Red 14 and Black 16 blocks from the tray. These ants finish off the very top tips of the chopsticks. Any remaining Hidden Box tiles in the tray reveal themselves as white blocks. Pull these final white blocks to clean up the last few background tiles in the top right corner. You win the level when the final ant finishes its meal and the board is completely empty.
Final Thought
Managing the long paths around the central chest is the real secret to this puzzle. You must always respect the travel time of your ants and keep a close eye on your five waiting slots to avoid a dead end.
