Welcome to Colony Flow Level 697. I am Liam Stone and I am here to guide you through this delicious looking puzzle. This level features a giant pixel art pancake covered in rich syrup and fresh blueberries. You will need to carefully peel back the colored layers to win. I play every single level myself and write these guides to read like a real player wrote them. We will walk through every move together so you can beat this board without getting stuck.
Colony Flow Level 697 Overview
What You Are Working With
The main puzzle picture is a massive stack of fluffy pancakes. The top holds dark blue blueberries and the middle is filled with orange and brown syrup layers. The bottom and side edges have red and dark orange crust details. Down in your tray you have several complex mechanics to navigate. You will see connected boxes linked by solid yellow lines. Pulling one of these connected blocks pulls the other right along with it whether you want it or not. You also have hidden boxes marked with question marks. These stay a complete mystery until they unlock. Finally you will notice green and yellow locks protecting some of the essential blocks. You must find and collect the keys hidden on the board to open these locks.
What It Takes to Clear Level 697 Board
Winning this level requires you to work systematically from the outside in. You have five waiting slots at the bottom of your screen. If you fill all five slots and your ants have nowhere to go the level ends in an instant loss. To clear the board safely you must open paths on the outer edges first. By clearing the red and dark orange borders you expose the massive inner pancake layers. You will need to manage the connected blocks carefully to avoid jamming your five waiting slots. Once you dig deep enough into the orange center you will release the keys needed to unlock your hidden tray blocks. Clearing the final top blueberries and middle syrup spots will successfully finish the board.
Colony Flow Level 697 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the outer red border first.
You want to start by attacking the bottom outer edge of the pancake. Locate the Red 20 block in your tray and pull it up to your waiting slots. A stream of red ants will march out of the nest hole and travel to the bottom right side of the board. They will begin eating away the red crust pixels outlining the shape. This is a very safe opening move because the path is completely unobstructed. The number on your red block will steadily drop from twenty down to zero. Keep your eyes on the board as the ants finish this section because it opens up the next available layer of colors.
Step 2: Peel back the right side orange layers.
With the red crust partially gone you can now reach the dark orange and yellow sections on the right side. Pull the Dark Orange 26 block into your waiting slots. You can also bring up the Orange 7 block. You will notice yellow connected lines in your tray linking some blocks together. When you pull a connected block you must make sure you have enough room in your five slots for both halves. The dark orange ants will travel up the right flank and begin clearing the thick syrup details. The numbers will count down fast because there is a wide open path. Your waiting slots remain completely safe and clear.
Step 3: Attack the left side red edge.
Now you need to balance the board by working on the left side. Find the Red 19 block in your tray and pull it up to the active area. The red ants will crawl out of the hole and head straight for the left edge of the pancake stack. They will eat the remaining red outline pixels on that flank. This move is crucial because it exposes the inner yellow batter on the left. You always want to peel the edges evenly so you have multiple color options available in your tray. As the red block hits zero your left path opens up completely for the next steps.
Step 4: Chip away the light yellow sections.
It is time to send out the yellow ants to clear the actual pancake batter. Pull up the Yellow 4 block and the Yellow 8 block. You will also see a Purple 8 block in your tray waiting for action. Go ahead and pull that purple block right now. The purple ants will find a few small purple details tucked into the sides of the pancake stack. The yellow ants will spread out along the right and left sides to eat the light yellow pixels. Because you opened the red and dark orange borders earlier the yellow ants have direct access to their food. Your slots will empty out rapidly.
Step 5: Start working on the top blueberries.
The top of the pancake stack is covered in dark blue pixels representing blueberries. You have a Dark Blue 46 block in your tray that is connected to an orange block. Pulling this pair will take up two of your valuable waiting slots. Since you already cleared the side paths the dark blue ants can travel all the way up to the top left of the stack. They will start chewing through the massive blueberry pile immediately. The orange ants will simultaneously work on the middle syrup layers. This dual action is incredibly efficient and keeps the board flowing perfectly without causing a traffic jam.
Step 6: Clear the massive center orange layers.
The center of the board is a huge block of orange pixels holding everything together. Look at your tray and pull the Orange 21 block and the Orange 25 block. This decision will send a massive wave of orange ants onto the board. They will flood the center and surround the remaining pancake layers. Because the area is so large the ants can eat from multiple sides at once. The numbers twenty one and twenty five will drop very quickly as the swarm works. This massive clearing action removes a huge chunk of the picture and brings you very close to unlocking your special items.
Step 7: Collect the key to unlock the green lock.
As the orange ants finish clearing the middle layers they will uncover a small key hidden among the pixels. You will see the key animate and fly down to the bottom of your screen. It will land directly on the green lock located in your tray. The lock breaks open instantly and reveals the hidden box underneath. The question mark disappears and shows a Dark Blue 10 block. This is a great moment because you desperately need more dark blue blocks to finish the blueberries at the top. The hidden box mechanic forces you to clear the center before you can address the top section.
Step 8: Finish the top blueberries and syrup.
Pull the newly revealed Dark Blue 10 block into your waiting slots right away. You should also pull the massive Brown 55 block from your tray to get it started. The dark blue ants will march up and eat the very last remaining blueberry pixels at the top right of the stack. The brown ants have a huge job ahead of them right now. They will swarm the entire board to clean up the brown syrup spots scattered across the pancakes. Fifty five is a big number so this block will sit in your waiting slot for a little while. Just be patient and let the ants do their important work.
Step 9: Clean up the final center tiles.
You are now in the final stretch and the board is almost completely empty. Your tray only has a few scattered blocks left to play. You will see a Brown 6 block along with an Orange 1 block and a Red 8 block and a Yellow 13 block. Pull all of them up into your waiting slots without fear. The center of the board is wide open so the ants will just run straight to their matching pixels. The red ants will grab the last crust pieces and the yellow ants will finish the batter. The numbers will instantly hit zero and free up your slots.
Step 10: Play your final blocks to win.
There is only a tiny cluster of pixels left on the screen at this point. You will see a Light Yellow 17 block and a small Orange 1 block remaining at the very bottom of your tray. Pull whatever is left into the slots to finish the job. The final ants will race out of the nest hole and clear the remaining spots in a blink. The picture will completely vanish and the victory screen will appear. You managed your connected blocks perfectly and never let your waiting slots jam up.
Final Thought
This level tests your ability to handle connected blocks while slowly peeling away the outer layers of a large picture. Opening the red and orange edges early gave you the room you needed to breathe and maneuver. Managing the five slots carefully kept the colony flowing without a single hitch. If you ever find a certain sequence tricky to follow in text I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article. Watching the exact timing of the connected blocks and the key drop will make everything perfectly clear.
