Welcome to Colony Flow Level 389. This level presents a wonderful pixel art globe surrounded by tall green plant stems. A thick heavy layer of chocolate completely blocks the bottom of the picture. You have to break through that barrier before you can feed the main colony. I will guide you through every move to keep your tray clear and your ants moving forward.

Colony Flow Level 389 Overview

What You Are Working With

You have a large intricate board featuring a round globe made of bright yellow land and blue water tiles. Curving green stems flank the left and right sides of the globe. The biggest obstacle is the solid chocolate layer located at the very bottom of the board. These three large brown blocks feature very high health numbers requiring a massive amount of ants to clear them. The left chocolate block requires 300 ants. The middle chocolate block requires 400 ants. The right chocolate block requires 200 ants. Your block tray also contains several tricky special items. You will see connected boxes linked together by a thick pipe. You must pull these into your tray at the exact same time. You also have a hidden box marked with a large question mark. This hidden box conceals its true color until it finds a completely valid open path on the board.

What It Takes to Clear Level 389 Board

Clearing the board means destroying all the chocolate first. The chocolate layer completely covers the only access points to the blue water and yellow land food tiles above it. If you pull colors for the globe before breaking the chocolate you will quickly fill your five waiting slots and lose the level. You must methodically chip away at the brown barriers using matching brown and red blocks from your tray. Once the chocolate is completely gone your ants will stream upwards into the main food area. You win the level when every single colored food tile is cleared and the ants successfully finish the board. Keeping at least one path open at all times ensures your waiting slots never jam.

Colony Flow Level 389 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Attack the outer chocolate blocks to open the bottom corners.

The absolute first thing you need to do is attack the thick chocolate barrier at the bottom of the board. The left block has a massive 300 health and the right block has 200 health. Pull the brown blocks and red blocks from your tray down into the waiting slots. The ants will stream out of the nest hole and begin aggressively chipping away at the chocolate. You want to focus heavily on the left and right sides first because they have lower health than the massive middle block. Keep pulling the 50 and 45 numbered brown blocks as they appear in your tray. Your ants will steadily reduce the high chocolate numbers down to zero. Do not pull any blue blocks or yellow blocks yet. The paths to those colored tiles are completely blocked by the chocolate. Pulling them right now will permanently jam your five waiting slots and cause you to immediately lose the level. Wait patiently until the chocolate numbers drop significantly.

Step 2: Destroy the center chocolate block to access the main globe.

With the outer sides taking heavy damage you must now focus all your attention on the large center chocolate block. It starts with 400 health which takes a very long time to clear completely. Send your remaining dark brown blocks and red blocks up to attack it. You will watch the numbers drop from 400 down to 259 and then eventually down to 69. As the ants eat away the last bits of the chocolate the bottom edge of the globe becomes fully exposed. A few green plant stem tiles and some bottom yellow land tiles are now totally open. This is exactly what you want to see. You now have valid open paths for new colors to travel. Keep a close eye on your five waiting slots. Make sure the brown blocks are completely empty and gone before you start pulling the next big wave of colors.

Step 3: Deploy the green blocks to clear the lower plant stems.

Now that the bottom edge is completely open you can start feeding the ants the actual picture. Look at the tall green stems on the left and right sides of the globe. Pull the light green blocks and dark green blocks from your tray. The ants will run up the outer sides and start eating the green food tiles. The light green block with 6 and the dark green block with 13 will rapidly clear out the lower sections of the plants. This action opens even more pathways stretching deeper into the upper board. The primary key here is patience. Let the green blocks finish their entire countdowns before grabbing more blocks. The waiting slots must remain highly flexible so you have plenty of room for the tricky connected boxes coming up next.

Step 4: Manage the connected boxes for the blue water sections.

Your tray now shows blocks connected together by a small pipe icon. You have a light blue block physically connected to a dark blue block. When you pull one of these connected boxes the linked box comes along with it. They will take up two of your five waiting slots immediately. You must ensure you have two open slots and a perfectly clear path for both colors on the board. The blue tiles form the massive top water section of the globe. Since the ants have eaten the green stems and some yellow land tiles the path to the blue water is now wide open. Pull the connected blue blocks into your tray. The ants will swarm straight up the middle and up the sides to eat the blue food tiles. The numbers on the light blue 40 and dark blue 45 blocks will drop very quickly as the ants feast.

Step 5: Reveal the hidden box to keep the flow moving smoothly.

While the blue tiles are clearing you will notice a grey box stamped with a question mark sitting in your tray. This is the hidden box. It will not reveal its true color until you pull it into a waiting slot and it establishes a valid path to the board. Wait until you have at least three empty waiting slots before pulling it. This prevents any accidental catastrophic jams. Pull the hidden box down. It immediately reveals itself to be a color you desperately need for the remaining tiles. The ants will instantly recognize the newly open path and rush forward to clear those specific tiles. Never pull a hidden box when your tray is almost full. If it happens to reveal a color heavily blocked by other tiles you will instantly dead end your entire board and lose the game.

Step 6: Clear the main yellow landmass in the center.

The chocolate layer is completely gone and the blue water tiles are heavily reduced. You are left with a large chunk of yellow land sitting right in the center of the globe. Pull the yellow blocks with 37 and 20 from your tray. The ants will form a massive marching line straight up the middle of the board to devour the yellow food tiles. You will also see some stray brown food tiles mixed into the lower sections. Send the remaining brown block with 9 to clean those remaining pieces up. The board is looking very bare and empty now. The ants are moving incredibly fast because the paths are now incredibly short. Keep pulling the yellow blocks as soon as the previous ones finish their countdowns. This continuous steady flow prevents any single color from holding up the line and jamming your slots.

Step 7: Finish the top blue water border and remaining green stems.

screenshot

Only the very top edge of the blue water and a few scattered green stem tiles remain on the board. You have a blue block with 1 and a dark purple block with 26 in your tray. Pull them into the waiting slots. The ants will race up to the top left and right corners to eat the last dark blue tiles. Pull the remaining light green blocks to clear the final pieces of the plant stems on the far right side. The board is now completely wide open. You have plenty of room in your waiting slots so you can pull the last few blocks all at once without any fear. Watch the numbers tick down completely to zero. The ants will clear the final yellow tiles and green tiles before they retreat safely back into the nest hole.

Final Thought

This level requires careful strict timing with the thick chocolate barriers right at the start. If you break the chocolate slowly and deliberately avoid jamming your tray you will have an easy time clearing the beautiful globe. Always prioritize the bottom obstacles before pulling colors for the top sections. Feel free to watch the video above this article if any step gives you trouble or if you get stuck on the connected boxes.
