Welcome to Colony Flow Level 171. This stage drops you right into a massive pixel art swimming pool scene complete with vibrant pink tiles and green palm leaves. It looks like a relaxing summer day but the puzzle demands serious tray management to win. You have many colors to juggle and limited waiting slots to work with. I will show you exactly how to break this board down.
Colony Flow Level 171 Overview
What You Are Working With
The board displays a highly detailed overhead view of a swimming pool. Light blue water makes up the vast bulk of the center area. Dark blue tiles form small ladder and diving board details deep inside the pool section. Around the water sits a thick protective border made entirely of bright pink and magenta tiles. Large green palm fronds hang heavy over the top left and bottom right corners of the scene. Bright yellow tiles sit isolated in the very outer corners of the board. Directly below the picture is the nest hole where your ants emerge. The tray at the absolute bottom of your screen holds a massive stack of colored blocks with very high numbers. You have light blue, pink, magenta, green, dark green, dark blue, yellow, and orange blocks ready to pull.
What It Takes to Clear Level 171 Board
You need to dismantle the swimming pool scene from the outside in. The ants require an open physical path to reach their matching color tiles. If you pull a light blue block too early the ants will just pile up at the bottom edge because the pink and green border blocks their direct way to the water. Your main goal is to carefully peel away the outer border and the green leaves to open a wide channel to the large blue center. You must monitor your five waiting slots at all times. If you fill all five slots with colors that cannot reach their target tiles the board will jam permanently and you lose the level.
Colony Flow Level 171 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the bottom edge green and magenta tiles to create an opening
You must start by making a physical breach in the outer wall. Tap the green and magenta blocks in your tray to send your first waves of ants. The ants will stream out of the nest hole and immediately attack the bottom edge of the board. They will eat away the leaves and border tiles closest to the nest. Keep a close eye on the numbers on your blocks as they count down toward zero. Do not overfill your slots with magenta blocks if the path is not fully clear yet. This initial move breaks the solid seal and exposes the light blue water tiles underneath.
Step 2: Release the first light blue block to begin draining the pool
Now that you have a physical gap in the bottom border you can safely pull a light blue block from the tray. Light blue makes up the largest single portion of the board. The light blue ants will rush right through the gap you just created and start clearing the water tiles. This is a crucial move because it creates much more physical open space on the board for other ants to maneuver around. Let the light blue block run completely down to zero so it clears itself from your waiting slot. Always make sure a light blue block is active when space allows so you constantly reduce the massive water section.
Step 3: Target the bottom right green leaves and yellow corner
With the center opening up you should shift your direct attention to the bottom right corner. Pull a green block and a yellow block to send ants toward the palm leaves and the yellow corner accents. The ants now have a perfectly clear path to walk along the newly cleared bottom edge and reach these isolated tiles. Clearing this specific corner removes a major physical obstacle and gives you access to the right side pink border. Watch your waiting slots very carefully. Only pull the yellow block when you are absolutely sure the green leaves are cleared enough to let the yellow ants pass through.
Step 4: Sweep the right side pink border tiles
Next you need to clear the pink tiles running all the way up the right side of the pool. Bring up a pink block from the tray into a waiting slot. The pink ants will travel across the cleared bottom section and march directly up the right edge. This continuous action peels away the entire right wall of the pool. As they eat these pink tiles they also expose more light blue water on that specific side. You are slowly widening the accessible surface area of the board. This steady expansion is exactly how you prevent your waiting slots from jamming later in the level.
Step 5: Send a massive wave of light blue ants into the expanded pool
The board is now completely wide open on the bottom and right sides. Tap one of the high number light blue blocks in your tray to take advantage of this space. A huge swarm of light blue ants will flood into the exposed center of the pool. They will quickly devour a massive chunk of the remaining water tiles. You will see the pool shrink significantly in a matter of seconds. This clears a huge amount of board space but you must stay focused. Do not pull too many light blue blocks at once. Keep at least two waiting slots entirely empty for other colors so you can continue working on the outer edges while the water drains.
Step 6: Attack the bottom left green leaves and border
Turn your focus to the bottom left side of the scene. You have more green leaves and pink border tiles sitting completely untouched there. Tap a green block and a pink block to deploy your ants to that specific side. They will march left out of the nest and begin breaking down the corner piece by piece. This action clears the way to the thick pink border running straight up the left wall. Remember to let the current blocks finish counting down before you pull new ones from the tray. Patience here ensures your slots stay empty and ready for the next required color.
Step 7: Clear the left side pink border and expose the diving board
Pull another pink block to send ants straight up the left edge. They will eat the pink border tiles and completely expose the dark blue diving board and ladder details on that side. This is a critical step because you absolutely cannot reach the dark blue tiles until the pink border is completely gone. The ants will wrap all the way up the left side of the screen without getting stuck. You now have full open access to almost every single remaining section of the board. The puzzle is heavily in your favor at this point.
Step 8: Deploy dark blue ants to remove the pool details
With the pink border out of the way you can finally target the dark blue tiles. Pull a dark blue block from the bottom tray into a free slot. The dark blue ants will travel straight up the left side and eat the diving board and ladder tiles. These tiles are located deep inside the pool area so they were completely inaccessible at the very start of the level. Clearing them out completely removes another color from the board and simplifies your tray management greatly. The board is looking very bare and manageable now.
Step 9: Send pink ants all the way across the top border
There is still a solid line of pink and magenta tiles running across the very top edge of the scene. Tap your remaining pink blocks to get them moving. The ants will take a long walk straight up the left side and march all the way across the top edge. They will consume the last of the top pink border. This exceptionally long travel time means the block will sit in your waiting slot for a good while. This is exactly why you kept your other slots clear earlier. Let the ants finish their long physical journey before making your next big move.
Step 10: Finish the remaining light blue water tiles
The only things left in the center area are the last few light blue water tiles. Pull your final light blue blocks from the tray to finish them off. The ants will rush straight in and clean up the very rest of the pool water. The center of the board will now be completely and totally empty. You are very close to finishing the level for good. Your tray should only have a few stray blocks remaining. Take a deep breath and prepare to clear the final outer corners.
Step 11: Clear the top left green leaves and final yellow corners
Your absolute last targets are the green leaves in the top left and the yellow tiles in the top corners. Pull your dark green block and your yellow blocks up into the waiting slots. The ants will split up immediately and head straight to their respective corners. They have a completely open empty board to walk across so they will reach their targets very quickly. Watch the numbers tick down to zero as the last physical tiles disappear from the screen. The picture is now fully cleared and the ants will finish the board. You have successfully conquered the level.
Final Thought
Beating this stage is all about opening that initial physical hole at the bottom and slowly expanding your reach outward. If you manage your waiting slots carefully and peel the outer border away piece by piece you will never get stuck. Please watch the video above this article if any step is hard to follow in text. Seeing the ants in physical motion can really help you understand the perfect timing for every single move.
