Welcome to Colony Flow Level 81. I am Liam Stone and I am thrilled to share my solution for this incredibly fun puzzle game with you. You are in for a fantastic challenge today. This particular stage features a gorgeous piece of pixel art that looks exactly like a classic retro cassette tape. You will see bright yellow tape lines, a solid orange label, and a dark purple outer shell. Your task is to command your ant colony to eat away every single pixel by matching the colored blocks in your tray to the food tiles above. The challenge sounds simple but the board layout makes it highly strategic. You have exactly five waiting slots at the bottom of the screen. If you fill all five slots and the ants have no open path to eat the food you lose the level instantly. I play every single stage myself and I tested multiple strategies on this board to find the safest route. I am going to show you exactly how to sequence your moves so you always keep the ants flowing without ever dead ending your tray.

What You Are Working With

The moment the screen loads you will notice the cassette tape is completely boxed in. A massive outer white border surrounds the entire structure. Inside the white frame you have several distinct layers to dismantle. There are bright yellow stripes, a wide orange background section, a blue stripe running along the bottom edge, and the dark purple casing at the top. The most crucial elements on this entire board are the two brown spools sitting right in the center of the tape. These spools act as Hungry Doors. They display the number twenty and require you to feed them a constant stream of ants before they yield. You must open these doors to access the hidden food underneath. Down in your block tray you have a mix of standard single blocks and tricky Connected Boxes. The Connected Boxes link two separate numbers with a solid grey bar. When you tap a connected pair they jump into your waiting slots as a package deal. This mechanic demands your full attention because pulling connected blocks eats up your limited slot space very fast.

What It Takes to Clear Level 81 Board

Beating this stage requires excellent pacing and a clear understanding of your available paths. To achieve victory you must slowly peel the board from the outside in. You cannot reach the inner tape sections until you break down the thick white border. Once the outer rim falls you have to shift your focus immediately to the bottom blue stripe and the two brown Hungry Doors. The game tries to trap you by offering you Connected Boxes early on. If you pull these boxes when the board is too crowded your slots will jam and you will fail the level. You must only tap the connected pairs when you have a massive surface area of that specific color exposed. Success looks like a smooth and steady stream of ants marching across the board without ever pausing. You win by feeding the Hungry Doors until they burst, clearing the inner label, and finally wiping out the top purple casing.

Colony Flow Level 81 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Pull the white blocks to clear the thick outer border and grab your first yellow block.

You start the board completely boxed in by a massive and solid white boundary that protects the inner tape. The very first move you must make is to pull the large white twenty five block from your starting tray. Your white ants will immediately stream out of the nest hole and begin eating away at the lower sections of the outer frame. Because the entire outer rim is white the ants have a massive surface area to attack and they will drain your block very quickly. You also need to start peeling back the inner yellow layers right away. Go ahead and tap the yellow thirty block to send a wave of yellow ants up the middle path. At this point the tray introduces your very first set of Connected Boxes. You will see a white three and a white six joined together by a solid bar. Pull them up into your waiting slots right next to the remaining blocks. Because the white border is fully exposed and wraps all the way around the board these connected blocks will drain their ants immediately. This keeps your slots perfectly safe from dead ending early in the run.

Step 2: Clear the bottom blue stripe and begin attacking the right Hungry Door.

With the white border partially removed you finally have access to the bottom section of the cassette tape art. You will see a bright blue stripe running across the lower edge of the label. Pull the blue twenty block up into your active slots. The blue ants will stream out of the hole and chew through that bottom blue stripe in no time. While the blue ants are busy working you should turn your attention to the right side of the cassette spool. This right spool is a brown Hungry Door and it requires exactly twenty ants to unlock. Tap your black twenty block from the tray to unleash a swarm of black ants. The black ants will bypass the outer colors and march straight toward that brown right door. You will watch the number on the door drop rapidly from twenty down to twelve and eventually reach zero. Once the door eats enough ants it bursts open completely to expose a new batch of food tiles hidden deep inside the cassette spool.

Step 3: Unleash yellow ants to open the left Hungry Door and bring up the orange blocks.

Now you must repeat the exact same unlocking process for the left cassette spool. This spool acts as your second Hungry Door and it blocks a huge section of the inner board. Pull a fresh yellow twenty five block from your tray and watch the ants go to work. The yellow ants will lock onto the left spool and crack it wide open just like the black ants did on the right side. At the same time you really need to clear the large orange background of the tape label. Tap the orange eighteen block to send orange ants up the middle. The tray then hands you another dangerous pair of Connected Boxes featuring an orange four and an orange fifteen. Pull them up very carefully. Since the orange paths are fully exposed across the middle of the board right now the ants will flow freely. You never want to tap connected blocks if the color path is narrow but here the orange food is wide open so your slots will not jam.

Step 4: Clear the inner white label sections and start removing the dark purple casing.

Your board is looking significantly smaller by this point but the paths are actually getting much tighter. Pull the large white thirty block from the tray to clear the white parts of the inner cassette sticker label. The main outer tape casing is constructed from dark purple blocks that look almost black on the screen. Tap the black twenty three block to send a massive swarm of ants up to the top and sides of the cassette casing. You will see your five waiting slots fill up incredibly quickly with white, black, yellow, and orange numbers all counting down at the exact same time. This is genuinely the most dangerous part of the entire level. Your screen will be flooded with ants running in every direction. As long as you fully opened both Hungry Doors in the previous steps the ants will have plenty of open surface area to eat. They will not stall out and your tray will remain functional.

Step 5: Clean up the remaining side borders by pulling your orange and white blocks.

The middle section of the board is mostly empty now but you still have stubborn walls of orange and white food tiles living on the left and right sides. Tap your next available white block to clear the top white strip that was hiding near the upper edge of the screen. Then you must pull the remaining orange blocks to finish off the thick orange vertical strips on the sides. You will notice the ants have to travel a much longer distance to reach these outer corners. You have to be patient and do not tap any extra blocks while the orange ants are making their long journey. Just let the numbers in your tray count down slowly. Giving the ants time to travel ensures you keep your slots from jamming right at the very end of the stage.

Step 6: Finish the purple casing and eat the final yellow stripe to complete the board.

You are now on the home stretch with only the very top purple casing and a tiny bit of yellow tape remaining on the screen. Pull your last few black blocks to clear out the final corners of the purple cassette shell. The black ants will march all the way to the top border and devour those last shell pieces. Once the dark purple completely disappears you can pull the final yellow twenty eight block from your tray. The yellow ants will swarm the last remaining yellow tiles floating in the center of the board. Every single waiting slot will empty out smoothly as the final pieces of pixel food vanish from the screen.

Final Thought

This level truly tests your ability to manage the Connected Boxes mechanic without overfilling your five limited slots. The ultimate trick is always feeding the two brown Hungry Doors as early as possible so you can open up the center of the board and create wider paths. I hope my detailed walkthrough helped you master this fantastic cassette tape puzzle. If you find any specific step hard to visualize in text just watch the video above this article to see exactly how the ants flow and exactly when I tap each block. Keep practicing your block timing and always watch your open paths. You will easily conquer this challenge and move forward to the next stage.
