Welcome to Colony Flow Level 23. This board serves up a massive piece of pixel art sushi for your ants to devour. You will face a thick black outline and a solid wall of white rice right from the very start. I play every single level myself to find the exact sequence that keeps the board moving. Follow my strategy below to clear this board without getting stuck.

Colony Flow Level 23 Overview

What You Are Working With

The board features a large sushi roll positioned right in the center of the screen. The bottom half consists of many white tiles making up the rice portion. The top half shows a slice of fish layered with red tiles on the left side, orange tiles in the middle, and yellow tiles on the right side. A thick vertical band of green tiles represents the seaweed wrapping around the center of the sushi. A solid line of black tiles forms an outline around the entire shape. Down in your tray you start with large stacks of white blocks and several hidden boxes waiting underneath them. You also have five empty waiting slots at the very bottom of the screen.

What It Takes to Clear Level 23 Board

You win the level when your ants eat every single colored tile and the picture vanishes entirely. You pull a numbered block from the tray into a waiting slot and the ants matching that color rush out of their nest hole. The ants crawl up to the picture and eat the matching colored tiles on the board. The number on your block drops by one for every single tile they eat. The block vanishes from your waiting slot when the number hits zero. You lose the level if you fill all five waiting slots with blocks that have no open path to the picture. You must always clear the outer tiles before the inner tiles become available. Managing your waiting slots is the only way to survive.

Colony Flow Level 23 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Break through the bottom black outline.

You start the level with a solid black barrier blocking all the food tiles from your ants. You must pull a black block from your tray into your first waiting slot to get things moving. Black ants pour out of the nest hole at the bottom of the screen and march straight up to the bottom edge of the sushi. They start chewing through the black tiles forming the lower outline. This opening move is mandatory because absolutely no other colors have an open path yet. The number on your black block steadily counts down as the ants remove the border. This action opens a wide gap leading directly into the white rice tiles. Do not pull any other colors into your slots while the black ants do their initial work. You want to keep your slots empty and completely safe from sudden jams.

Step 2: Clear the bottom layer of white rice.

With the black outline broken you now have a direct route to the white rice. Pull a white block from the top of your tray into a waiting slot. White ants stream out of the nest and flood into the gap you just created at the bottom. They fan out across the lower section of the sushi and eat the lowest layer of white tiles. The white block in your slot holds a large thirty five count so it takes a little time for the ants to finish it. Watch the white tiles vanish and expose the next layer up.

Step 3: Dig deeper into the white rice section.

You need to continue clearing out the bottom half of the board before moving to the top. Pull a second white block to keep the momentum going. The white ants continue chewing upward through the rice. You now have a deep pocket cleared out in the middle of the sushi roll. This is a critical moment for your tray management. The hidden boxes in your tray start to reveal their colors as the top layers vanish. Do not touch any red blocks or yellow blocks yet. Their matching tiles are still trapped behind other colors. Pulling them now will permanently lock up your waiting slots.

Step 4: Attack the green seaweed band.

Clearing the center rice exposes the bottom edge of the green seaweed. Pull a green block from your tray into an open waiting slot. Green ants leave the nest and march straight up the empty space left by the white rice. They latch onto the bottom of the green vertical band and start eating their way toward the top. This green band splits the sushi right down the middle. Removing it provides a huge advantage because it gives your ants access to the inner edges of the red fish and yellow fish on top. Your green block will count down and eventually free up its waiting slot.

Step 5: Send white ants to clear the left side rice.

You still have white rice tiles lingering on the extreme left side and right side of the board. Pull another white block to deal with the left side first. The white ants travel up the left edge and eat the remaining rice tiles in that corner. This action completely exposes the red tiles forming the left side of the fish. You must clear these outer white tiles before you can safely pull any red blocks into your slots. If you pull a red block too early it will sit dead in your waiting slot and threaten your entire game. The white ants finish their task and the white block disappears from your tray.

Step 6: Start eating the red fish tiles.

Now you have a completely clear path leading straight to the red section located on the top left. Pull a red block into your waiting slot. Red ants rush up the left side of the board and start consuming the red tiles. The top of the sushi is thick and contains multiple layers of bright color. Watch your slot count closely as the red ants do their work. The red tiles vanish quickly and begin to expose the orange tiles sitting right next to them.

Step 7: Introduce orange ants to the left side.

The orange section is now open for business. Pull an orange block right after your red block finishes. Orange ants follow the exact same path up the left side and attack the orange tiles positioned next to the red ones. You will see the ants working rapidly to strip the left half of the fish. Keeping the flow steady is vital here. Ensure you only pull blocks when their colors are totally exposed.

Step 8: Clear the right side rice and open the yellow tiles.

Shift your attention over to the right side of the board. Pull another white block to clean up the last few white rice tiles on the bottom right corner. This clears the final barrier blocking the yellow tiles that form the right side of the fish. Once the white block reaches zero you can confidently pull a yellow block from the tray. Yellow ants swarm up the right side and chew into the yellow section. The sushi picture is shrinking rapidly from both ends now. You are managing your slots perfectly by only pulling blocks that have immediate access to their matching colors.

Step 9: Manage the newly revealed hidden boxes.

Your tray now shows several hidden boxes dropping down to the bottom row. These boxes reveal their colors as the blocks above them vanish from the board. You will uncover more green blocks and orange blocks. Pull a green block to finish off the very top portion of the seaweed band. Then pull an orange block to tackle the upper middle section of the fish. The ants pour into the center of the board and dismantle the remaining structure. The top half of the sushi is getting thinner by the second. Check your waiting slots repeatedly to ensure nothing is stuck. The numbers on your blocks should constantly tick down as the ants find their specific targets.

Step 10: Trace the final top black outline.

The only part of the original black outline remaining is the section wrapping over the very top of the sushi piece. You need black ants to reach it. Pull a black block from the tray into a waiting slot. The black ants march all the way up the sides of the board and start walking along the top edge. They eat the black tiles steadily from left to right. This is a very long travel path so the black block takes a bit longer to count down. Leave it alone and let the black ants do their job. Do not panic and pull random colors into your other slots. Just wait for the black ants to clear the top boundary entirely.

Step 11: Clean up the final remaining tiles.

You are down to the very last few blocks in your bottom tray. You have a handful of yellow tiles on the right side and a few orange tiles scattered near the very top. Pull your last yellow block and let the yellow ants finish their designated section. Then pull your final orange block into the slot. The ants rush up and consume the very last colored tiles on the board. The final block hits zero and vanishes from your slot completely. The board is entirely empty and you secure a win for this level.

Final Thought

This level tests your patience and your tray management skills heavily. You must resist the strong urge to pull colors before their physical path is fully open. Watching the ants trace the long paths around the board takes time but guarantees your waiting slots stay clear. Watch the video above this article if you struggle to visualize any of these steps. The video shows my exact timing and helps clarify exactly how the ants move across the board.
