Welcome to Colony Flow Level 186. This puzzle features a fantastic pixel art picture of a black cat resting on a bright garden structure. You will need to manage your tray closely because this level relies heavily on connected blocks pulling multiple colors at once. I play every single level to test the absolute best strategies. Follow my moves below to guide your ants to victory.
Colony Flow Level 186 Overview
What You Are Working With
The puzzle board features a large central structure completely surrounded by a massive light yellow background. The art itself shows a black cat sitting on top of a huge light green leaf canopy. This canopy is dotted with pink flower tiles scattered throughout the green mass. Below the canopy you will see a light blue horizontal ledge resting over bright red vertical columns. The foundation consists of dark green bushes sitting on top of orange and brown bottom steps. Down in your block tray you will notice several numbered blocks linked together by solid visible lines. These are connected blocks. When you pull one of these blocks you automatically pull every other block attached to it right into your waiting slots whether you are ready for them or not.
What It Takes to Clear Level 186 Board
To win this level you must clear every single tile from the board. The ants stream out of the nest hole and need open paths to reach their matching colored tiles. Your primary goal is to avoid filling the five waiting slots with blocks that cannot be used yet. If you fill all five slots and no ants can move you will lose the game. Because pulling connected blocks fills two or three waiting slots instantly you must plan your pulls very carefully. You have to peel the picture from the outside in. You will start by clearing the large light yellow background to open paths toward the central structure. Managing the waiting slots is the only way to avoid a dead end.
Colony Flow Level 186 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the large background grid to open paths to the main structure
You need to start your attack by pulling the light yellow blocks from the tray. The board is completely encased in a thick light yellow background grid that wraps around every single side of the picture. You need to unleash the light yellow ants first to create working space for everything else. Pulling the light yellow blocks sends a continuous stream of ants out of the nest hole and around the outer edges of the entire board. You want to let these ants do their work before pulling any other colors. The background requires a massive number of ants to clear so you will use multiple blocks with very high numbers. If you pull inner colors right now they will just sit in the waiting slots and jam your tray. Keep feeding the light yellow ants until the outer border of the picture is fully exposed and the ants have plenty of room to maneuver freely around the edges.
Step 2: Target the black cat and the bottom foundation steps
Once the light yellow background starts to vanish you can reach the extreme top and bottom edges of the central art. Look for the black blocks and the brown blocks in your tray. The black tiles make up the cat sitting on the very top of the roof. The brown tiles form the lowest step of the foundation. Pull the black block to send a line of ants streaming to the top of the board. Pull the brown and dark green connected blocks to send ants to the bottom bushes and steps. Because these blocks are connected in the tray you will fill multiple waiting slots in one single motion. Make sure the light yellow ants have cleared enough empty space so the new ants can navigate to their targets without getting blocked. Watch the numbers on your waiting blocks drop rapidly as the ants find their way.
Step 3: Break into the light green canopy and the light blue ledge
With the cat and the bottom steps completely out of the way you expose the next deeper layers of the picture. You can now access the massive light green leaf canopy and the light blue horizontal ledge. The tray gives you a chain of connected blocks that includes large orange blocks and a light blue block. Pull this chain up to the waiting slots. The orange ants will swarm the lower foundation steps right above the brown layer you just cleared. The light blue ants will march straight up and attack the ledge sitting right above the red columns. You will also pull a light green block to start chipping away at the massive leaf canopy. The light green section is the largest single part of the structure. It will take multiple blocks to bring the whole canopy down so start early.
Step 4: Unleash the red ants to dismantle the vertical columns
Now the exact middle of the structure is completely exposed to your ants. You will see several bright red columns standing vertically in the center of the board. The tray provides red blocks and pink blocks. Pull the red blocks to send a huge wave of red ants crashing into the columns. The red tiles clear out incredibly fast because the paths are completely direct and wide open straight from the nest hole all the way up to the columns. At the exact same time you can bring up the pink blocks. The pink tiles are flowers scattered deep inside the remaining light green canopy. By now the light green ants have eaten enough leaves to expose the edges of the pink flowers. The pink ants will weave through the gaps in the leaves to reach the flower tiles. Always keep a close eye on your waiting slots. Never pull a pink block if the flowers are still completely trapped by solid green leaves.
Step 5: Clean up the final green leaves and pink flowers
The board is almost totally clear of tiles. The red columns and the blue ledge are completely gone. The entire bottom foundation is completely removed from the screen. All that remains on the board are scattered patches of light green leaves and a few stubborn pink flowers. Your tray is down to its final few blocks. Pull the remaining light green and pink blocks up to the slots. The waiting slots are relatively empty right now so you have plenty of room to bring these last blocks up safely. The light green ants will sweep through the rest of the canopy fragments and finish off the structure. The pink ants will grab the final few flower tiles left behind. Let the ants finish their routes to clear the board entirely and secure your win.
Final Thought
Winning this level comes down to managing the connected blocks in your tray with total patience. Pulling too many connected blocks at the wrong time will flood your waiting slots and end your game instantly. Always clear the outside layers before trying to force ants into the deep center of the structure. Take your time and let the outer layers peel away naturally to keep your paths open. If you find any of these moves hard to picture in text I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article. Seeing the ants flow in real time will help you master the timing perfectly.
