Welcome back to another puzzle guide. Today we are looking at Colony Flow Level 617 and getting that board completely clear. This level presents a beautiful pixel art ship sailing against a sunset background but it packs a serious challenge in block management. You will need to carefully sequence your colors so the ants can reach every part of the image without jamming your waiting slots. I played through this one a few times to get the order exactly right.
Colony Flow Level 617 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture for this level is a large wooden galleon floating on a bright ocean. The pixels are tightly packed together which means you have to plan your routes carefully. You will notice the bright colors of the setting sun contrasting sharply with the deep blues of the ocean. This makes it easy to see which sections belong to which blocks. The bottom section of the board consists of light blue water broken up by white wave crests and dark blue accents. The ship itself features a brown curved hull with a bright red stripe cutting across the middle. Above the deck you have massive pink sails heavily shaded with purple blocks. The entire background is a huge sunset constructed from alternating rings of yellow and orange pixels. Down in your tray you start with large number blocks like Light Blue thirty and White forty alongside several hidden boxes. These hidden boxes keep their true color a secret until they have a valid path to move on the board. You have a single spawn hole at the bottom center where your ants enter the map to start their work.
What It Takes to Clear Level 617 Board
Your main goal is to match the colored blocks from your tray to the exact pixels on the board above. You drag a numbered block into one of your five waiting slots to activate it. The ants will grab that specific color and march toward the matching pixels on the picture. The ants carry the food off the screen and your block number drops by one. You win the level when every single pixel is gone and the picture is totally clear. The massive catch is your limited slot space. You have to think a few moves ahead to ensure the ants always have a place to go. When a block sits in a slot it takes up valuable real estate. If you pull five blocks into the waiting slots and none of them can reach their matching pixels you lose the level instantly. The board becomes a complete dead end if you do not manage this space. You have to peel the picture away layer by layer so you always maintain an open path for your active colors. We are going straight up the middle first and then branching out to the sides.
Colony Flow Level 617 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Pull the white and brown blocks first to open a path through the center.
Start by pulling the White forty block into your waiting slots to attack the wave crests sitting right in front of the nest hole. The white ants will stream out of the hole and immediately clear the center space leaving a nice gap for the next colors. The white forty block is your best friend here because it clears the immediate area around the spawn point. This gives every subsequent color room to breathe. Once the white block drops by a few numbers you can pull a Brown block to target the bottom of the ship hull. The brown ants will follow the white ants and begin eating away the curved base of the boat. This opening move is crucial because it creates a wide open space in the middle of the board. You need this empty zone so your future ants can travel left and right without getting stuck behind a solid wall of pixels. Wait for the white block to finish its countdown and vanish before you move to the next major color.
Step 2: Use the red block to split the ship and start clearing the light blue water.
With the lower hull gone the red stripe across the ship is now completely exposed. Drag a Red block up from the tray. The red ants will march straight up and wipe out that horizontal line. The red stripe acts as a divider for the entire image. Breaking this divider is your first major milestone in this level. This removes the barrier and separates the bottom of the ship from the upper deck and the sails. Now you can safely bring up a Light Blue block to start clearing the massive section of water. The light blue block holds a high number so it will sit in your slot for a while. You will see the ants fan out across the bottom left and bottom right corners of the water. Do not pull a second light blue block just yet. You want to keep your other slots open for the colors needed higher up on the ship.
Step 3: Send pink and purple ants to devour the large sails and their shadows.
The center path is now clear enough to reach the upper sections of the ship. Go ahead and pull a Pink block to send ants climbing up the mast. The pink ants will start devouring the large main sails. Because the sails have dark shading you should also bring up a Purple block. The purple ants will run right alongside the pink ones and clear the shadow details on the edges of the canvas. You will see the pink and purple ants weaving through the empty space left by the brown hull. The visual progression here is fantastic as the bulky sails slowly disappear pixel by pixel. You have to watch your waiting slots very closely here. The distance from the spawn hole to the top of the sails is long. The blocks will take more time to count down to zero because the ants have a longer commute. Give them time to work and do not pull extra blocks until the current ones finish.
Step 4: Deploy the dark blue ants to remove the ship outline and water details.
As the pink and purple ants chew through the sails you will notice the dark blue outline of the ship is left behind like a skeleton. You also have dark blue accents floating in the water. The dark blue accents are sneaky because they are scattered across different areas. Keep an eye on the water because a few dark blue pixels hide among the light blue waves. Pull a dark Blue block into an empty slot. These ants will scatter in multiple directions to handle these pieces. Some will trace the shape of the boat while others will dive into the remaining water sections. Removing the outlines completely opens the borders between the ship and the background. The hidden boxes in your tray will start revealing their colors right around now because valid paths to the outer edges are finally opening up.
Step 5: Release the yellow and orange ants to consume the massive sunset rings.
Now that the ship is mostly dismantled the massive sunset background is wide open for attack. Drag a Yellow block into your active row. The yellow ants will split up and wrap around both sides of the remaining water blocks to reach the sky. They will eat the bright yellow rings of the sunset. Once they get going pull an Orange block to handle the darker sky rings. The yellow and orange sections are huge so these blocks will carry numbers in the thirties. This high volume means you need patience. You will have a steady stream of yellow and orange ants marching up the left and right margins of the board. When a hidden box reveals itself as pink or purple pull it up to clear the tiny flags at the very top of the ship mast.
Step 6: Pull alternating water and sky blocks to clear the edges at the same pace.
You are now in the home stretch but you still have a lot of pixels on the far left and far right edges. You will have a mix of light blue water tiles at the bottom and yellow and orange sky tiles at the top. The trick here is to pull one Light Blue block and one Yellow block at the same time. This keeps traffic flowing to both ends of the board. Balancing the clearing process is the true test of this level. If you focus solely on the water you will end up with a massive backlog of sky blocks in your tray. If you only pull water blocks the top sky will remain blocked off and you will jam your slots trying to fix it later. Let the ants work on both sections simultaneously. When a block empties out and leaves a slot immediately replace it with the next block of the same color from your tray.
Step 7: Drag the final blocks into your slots to finish the outer corner pixels.
Your tray is almost empty and only a few clusters of pixels remain on the very outer borders. You will see a few light blue tiles lingering in the bottom corners and some yellow and orange tiles hugging the top corners. Pull your final Light Blue block to send the last wave of water ants. Then bring up your last Orange and Yellow blocks. The satisfaction of watching the board empty out is what makes this game great. The ants will take the long walk all the way around the empty center to grab those final pieces. Just sit back and let the numbers tick down to zero. Do not rush and pull a block if you are not absolutely sure the ants have a clear walking path to their target. The last few ants will snatch the final pixels and trigger the win screen.
Final Thought
Level 617 requires you to stay calm and manage your space wisely. Patience and careful observation will get you through this challenge. The biggest trap is pulling too many high number blocks at once and watching your waiting slots choke. Always prioritize opening the middle of the board first so your ants have a highway to the top. If any part of this written guide feels tough to picture in your head please watch the video above this article. The visual sequence will show you exactly how the colors break down and clear the map. Good luck and keep those paths open.
