Colony Flow Level 390 presents a massive pixel art frog sitting against a bright rainbow background. You have to feed your ant colony by matching colored blocks from your tray to the food tiles on the board. The main challenge here involves breaking through thick layers of chocolate without jamming your limited waiting slots. I played this level multiple times to find the absolute safest way to clear the board without hitting a deadlock.
Colony Flow Level 390 Overview
What You Are Working With
The board features a large green frog in the center of the screen. A rainbow background sits behind the frog consisting of red, orange, yellow, blue, and purple stripes. A bright red heart sits on the upper right side of the picture. Thick brown chocolate blocks cover the entire lower half of the frog and the lower stripes of the background. These chocolate blocks carry massive numbers like 1000, 800, and 700. The tray at the bottom holds your colored numbered blocks. Many of these blocks are connected boxes. Two blocks are linked together by a visible line and they move into your slots as a single pair.
What It Takes to Clear Level 390 Board
You must send ants to chew through the heavy chocolate barriers first. Any ant color can eat chocolate. Once the chocolate breaks, the colored food tiles underneath become exposed and available. You win the level by clearing every single food tile so the ants can retreat into the nest. You have exactly five waiting slots at the bottom of the screen to hold your active blocks. If blocks fill all five waiting slots and no ants can clean the board, you lose the level. Every move you make must keep at least one path open for the ants so the waiting slots never jam. Frame your solution around never dead ending the board by pulling connected boxes too early.
Colony Flow Level 390 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Send your first wave of ants to attack the heavy chocolate barriers
The bottom of the board is completely blocked by thick chocolate barriers. These chocolate blocks carry huge hit point numbers ranging from 400 all the way up to a massive 1000 on the left side and 800 on the right side. You need to chip away at these numbers immediately before you can reach the lower portions of the frog or the bottom background stripes. Start your level by pulling the orange block and the connected cyan and white boxes from your tray into your waiting slots. Adding connected boxes takes up two of your five available slots at the exact same time. You can see a thin visual line linking these connected boxes in the tray. Pulling them is a very dangerous move if you are not careful about your available space. Because chocolate can be eaten by any color ant, your orange, cyan, and white ants will immediately stream out of the nest hole at the bottom of the screen. They will travel up the main path and start reducing the numbers on the chocolate blocks. This constant action keeps your active slots from jamming. Add a black block with the number 34 to the slots to send even more ants directly at the chocolate. The massive 1000 block on the left and the 800 block on the right will slowly drop in value as the ants continuously consume them.
Step 2: Deploy red and green ants to clear the upper sections of the board
The chocolate blocks are taking heavy damage but they still block the lower half of the board entirely. You need to keep the ants moving so your slots stay perfectly clear and avoid a fatal deadlock. Look at the top area of the board above the frog. The red stripe and the large red heart are completely exposed to the open paths. The top of the green frog is also completely open for consumption. Pull the green blocks and red blocks from your lower tray into the waiting area. Red ants will emerge from the hole, bypass the bottom chocolate entirely, and march up the outer edges of the board. They will spread out to eat the red background and the heart. Green ants will swarm the top half of the frog pixel by pixel. The numbers on your red and green tray blocks will tick down steadily as the ants consume the matching food tiles. Your waiting slots remain completely open because these specific ants have clear unobstructed paths to their targets. You avoid a deadlock by focusing on the open top section while the bottom remains fully blocked by the remaining chocolate hit points. Keep feeding green blocks into the slots as long as the upper frog remains accessible.
Step 3: Break the remaining chocolate blocks and open the yellow background layer
Your early waves of ants have finally chewed through the last remaining hit points of the chocolate blocks. The brown barriers break apart completely and reveal the lower legs of the frog along with the yellow and orange background stripes. Now you must clear these newly exposed colored layers. Pull another set of connected boxes from the tray into your waiting slots. This time you need to grab the connected yellow and cyan blocks. The yellow ants will quickly target the bright yellow background stripe running behind the frog. The cyan ants will target the remaining blue sections of the background on the left and right sides. By waiting until the chocolate broke before pulling these specific connected boxes, you guaranteed that both ant colors had a wide open path to travel. This careful timing prevents the connected boxes from sitting idle in your tray and deadlocking your five precious slots. If you had pulled the yellow blocks while the chocolate was still unbroken, the yellow ants would have nowhere to go and your slots would be permanently stuck.
Step 4: Attack the lower frog legs and the heavy purple bottom section
The middle of the board is clearing out very nicely now that the chocolate is gone. You currently face a very heavy purple section on the bottom right corner of the board. This specific purple block requires a massive number of ants to clear out entirely. Pull your purple blocks from the tray and place them into your waiting slots. At the exact same time, pull more green blocks to finish off the lower legs of the green frog. The green ants will stream out of the nest and head toward the remaining green pixels on the left and right sides of the body. The purple ants will march directly to that heavy bottom right corner and start eating the thick purple cluster. Always make sure the green ants finish their current path before adding more connected boxes to the tray. Keeping the purple and green streams active ensures your slots do not fill up with unusable colors. You maintain a constant flow of ants leaving the waiting slots to prevent any sudden blockages. The heavy purple section will eventually shrink down as the purple blocks count down to zero.
Step 5: Clear the black outlines and the white details on the frog body
Only the fine details of the frog remain on the central board space. You can clearly see the black outlines of the legs and the small white and black pixels making up the eyes of the frog. Pull the black and white blocks from your tray into the active waiting slots. The white ants will quickly climb up the central path to eat the remaining eye tiles. The black ants will spread out along the outer edges to eat the thin outline paths wrapping around the frog body. These thin outline paths take quite a bit of time for the ants to travel across because they have to snake around the empty spaces. Do not pull any other colors into the tray while the black and white ants are moving. If you fill the remaining waiting slots while these ants are traveling, you risk a complete deadlock. Let the black and white blocks empty out entirely before making your next move. Patience is key here as you wait for the final details to disappear from the center of the board.
Step 6: Sweep up the final scattered background pixels to finish the board
The frog is completely gone and only a few scattered background pixels remain along the outer edges of the picture. You will see small remnants of green, red, purple, and black tiles dotting the perimeter of the screen like a broken frame. Pull the final corresponding blocks from your lowest tray into the empty slots. Send the green and red ants to the top corners of the board. Send the purple and black ants to the bottom corners. Because the center of the board is completely clear, the ants have a fast and direct route to these final pieces without navigating around any obstacles. The last few blocks will reach zero and disappear entirely from your waiting slots. The final ants will eat the very last colored pixels and retreat back into the nest hole. The board is now completely clean and you win the level.
Final Thought
Level 390 requires immense patience and very careful timing with your connected boxes. You have to break the heavy chocolate early and manage your slots so they never jam up and cause a deadlock. Paying attention to the thick purple sections and the thin outline paths will keep your ant colony moving efficiently. I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article if any step is hard to follow in text. Seeing the exact timing of the connected boxes will help you master the mechanics.
