Welcome to Colony Flow Level 449 where you face a large obstacle right in the center of the board. This puzzle requires careful tray management because a massive wooden crate blocks a huge portion of the pixel art character. You need to work around the edges and clear the exposed colors to reveal what lies beneath. I played this level multiple times to find the safest path. The trick involves keeping your waiting slots clear while slowly chipping away at the crate number. You will find that patience is your best tool here. Let me show you exactly how to break that crate and clear the board without getting stuck.
Colony Flow Level 449 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture at the top of your screen shows a character with dark purple hair and a bright red shirt. The character holds a grey and white object in one hand. The entire figure sits against a stark white grid background. Right over the face area sits a giant wooden crate displaying the number 166 in bold white text. Below the board you will find your nest hole where the ants spawn. At the very bottom of the screen your tray holds blocks in red, white, yellow, and dark purple. You have five empty waiting slots to hold these colored blocks. Every time you pull a numbered block up to a slot, the ants rush out of the nest to carry that exact color to the matching tiles on the board.
What It Takes to Clear Level 449 Board
To beat this level you must clear every single colored tile from the picture. The giant wooden crate in the middle acts as a massive barrier. You cannot access the face tiles hiding under it until you completely break the crate. Every time your ants eat an exposed tile on the board the number on the crate drops by one. You must clear 166 tiles from the shirt, the hair, and the background to make the crate disappear. You lose the level if you fill all five waiting slots with colors that the ants cannot reach. The main rule of the game is to never dead end the board. The winning strategy requires you to feed the ants exactly what they can access on the outer edges so the waiting slots never jam.
Colony Flow Level 449 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Start with the yellow block to clear the tiny shirt badge
Take a close look at the red shirt on the character. You will spot a tiny yellow badge sitting on the chest area. Go to your tray at the bottom of the screen and find the yellow block with the number 2 on it. Pull this yellow block up into one of your five waiting slots. The yellow ants will immediately stream out of the nest hole and march straight up to that yellow badge. Because the number on the block is so low the ants will finish this entire task in just two bites. The yellow block will vanish from your waiting slot right away. This quick move removes an easy color and keeps your five slots entirely open for the larger tasks ahead. You want to clear these easy colors early to keep your tray organized and free of unnecessary clutter.
Step 2: Feed red blocks to the slots to begin clearing the shirt
Now you need to start dropping the massive number on that wooden crate. The red shirt is completely exposed at the bottom of the picture. Go back to your tray and pull up a red block into a waiting slot. You have several red blocks in your tray with numbers like 23 and 20 and 7. Pull up a couple of these red blocks to keep the ants busy. A massive swarm of red ants will pour out of the nest hole and flood the red shirt tiles. As they eat away the red pixels you will see the number on the wooden crate start to drop. The crate number goes down from 166 to 131 very quickly. Keep a close eye on your waiting slots and do not pull up too many blocks at once. You always want at least one or two slots completely open so you never dead end the board with a color the ants cannot reach.
Step 3: Bring up white blocks to clear the background and hand object
While the red ants chew through the shirt you must start targeting the white tiles. The character holds a grey and white object on the left side and a massive white background frames the entire picture. Pull a large white block like the 36 into an open waiting slot. Your nest hole will send out white ants to tackle these areas immediately. The white ants will path around the red workers and begin eating the bottom edges of the white background. This dual color assault moves the level forward. The red ants and white ants working together will drop the crate number past 100. Balance the red and white blocks in your waiting slots carefully. You want a steady flow of both colors moving up the board without filling the waiting slots. If you pull too many of one color you risk filling all five slots and losing the game.
Step 4: Finish clearing the red shirt to open up the bottom half
The lower section of the character is almost gone at this point. You will need a few more red blocks to finish off the last remaining pixels of the shirt. Bring up another red block from your tray into a waiting slot. The red ants will travel a bit further up the board now to reach their targets. They will reach the upper chest area just below the wooden crate. When they clear these final red tiles the crate number will fall down into the sixties. Now the entire bottom half of the picture is completely empty space. This empty space gives your ants a very wide path to travel toward the top half of the board. You now have plenty of room to start working on the top hair section without the ants hitting dead ends.
Step 5: Send dark purple blocks up the side paths to clear the hair
The top of the character features dark purple hair that wraps around the upper half of the wooden crate. The only way to reach these top tiles is to send ants up the sides of the remaining white background. Pull a dark purple block into an empty waiting slot. You have several dark purple blocks with large numbers like 34 and 35 in your tray. Pull one up and watch the dark purple ants stream out of the nest hole. They will march all the way up the left and right sides of the board to reach the top. Keep pulling up white blocks alongside the dark purple blocks. The white ants will continue eating the background while the dark purple ants eat the hair. This combined effort brings the crate number down to exactly 30.
Step 6: Break the wooden crate to finally reveal the hidden face
You are very close to opening the center of the board. Continue feeding the ants dark purple blocks for the hair and white blocks for the background. You must clear exactly 30 more tiles to destroy the crate. Keep watching the side paths to ensure the ants can reach their targets without getting blocked. Pull up smaller numbered blocks from your tray if you need to finish off a specific section without trapping a color in your slots. As the ants eat the last few exposed tiles the crate number will hit zero. The giant wooden crate will instantly vanish from the screen. A new face section with brown and red skin tones is now completely exposed in the middle of the picture. Breaking the crate gives you full access to the rest of the board.
Step 7: Clear the face and remaining borders to finish the puzzle
Now that the face is open you have direct access to the final tiles. The face requires red blocks to clear the brown and red skin pixels. The remaining hair needs more dark purple blocks. The final outer border requires your last white blocks. Pull your remaining tray blocks into the waiting slots one by one. You have plenty of open paths now because the center of the board is completely clear. The ants will swarm the face and the remaining top pieces of hair. The dark purple blocks will drop to zero and vanish from your slots. The red blocks will finish the skin tiles and disappear. Finally the white blocks will clear the very last background pixels. Once the board is entirely empty you win the level.
Final Thought
Managing your five waiting slots is the entire trick to this puzzle. You must balance the colors carefully to break that massive crate without jamming the slots. If you pull the wrong block you risk failing the level instantly. Keep the paths open and watch the crate number drop.
