Step 1: Clear the dark and light blue border layers first

The outer edge of the puzzle is entirely blue. You want to start by pulling up the Light Blue 31 and Dark Blue 54 blocks from your tray into the waiting slots. The matching colored ants immediately flood out of the nest hole and start eating the background tiles on the edges of the board. By starting on the outside, you open up paths to the inner picture. The numbers on these blocks will drop rapidly as the ants do their work. You will see the Light Blue block drop down to 10 and the Dark Blue drop down to 25. This clearing action removes the protective shell around the dog. Always watch your five waiting slots during this opening phase so you do not accidentally pull an inner color that cannot reach the board yet.
