Colony Flow Level 502 gives you a bright beach scene to clear, complete with ocean waves and a sandy shore. The bottom of the board is your only way in, so you have to chew through the sand and shells before you can reach the water. I play every level myself, and the trick here is using the open side paths to reach the top of the board early. Keep your waiting slots clear, and you will easily wash away this puzzle.
Colony Flow Level 502 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture is a pixel art beach scene. You have a dark blue sky at the very top, followed by light blue water, white crashing waves, and a thick layer of orange sand at the bottom. The sand holds several pink, white, and yellow shells, along with some dark brown spots.
Your tray holds five waiting slots. If you fill these slots with blocks that the ants cannot reach, the board jams and you lose the level.
The deck contains standard single color blocks and several sets of Connected Boxes. Connected Boxes are two blocks linked together by a colored pipe. When you tap the top block, both blocks move to your tray and take up two waiting slots. You must have two empty slots available to pull them.
What It Takes to Clear Level 502 Board
To win this level, you need to clear the entire beach picture. You start by feeding the bottom layer of sand and shells to your colony. As the sand disappears, the left and right sides of the board open up. These side paths allow your ants to bypass the middle of the picture and reach the waves and sky at the top. Success depends on pulling blocks that match whatever layer your ants can currently reach.
Colony Flow Level 502 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the shells and start chewing the sand
Your first moves must focus on the completely exposed bottom edge of the sand.
Tap the deck to pull the pink, yellow, white, and orange blocks into your tray. The ants will immediately stream out of the nest and grab these colors because the shells and sand are directly in front of them. The pink, white, and yellow blocks will wipe out the small shell details scattered in the sand. The orange blocks will start heavily draining the main sand area. Since the ants have a wide open path to these colors, the blocks will drain quickly and keep your waiting slots open. Do not pull any blue blocks yet, as the water is completely blocked.
Step 2: Use the side paths to reach the upper water
Once a good chunk of the sand is gone, the ants will find open paths up the extreme left and right sides of the board.
These side paths give your colony direct access to the white waves and the light blue water higher up in the picture. Pull a white block and a light blue block into your tray. Your ants will run up the sides and start eating the edges of the water and waves. This is a crucial tactic because it lets you work on the top and bottom of the puzzle at the same time. Working multiple areas prevents any single color from taking too long to drain.
Step 3: Pull your first set of connected boxes
You will notice dark brown spots exposed in the remaining sand, and a connected pair of brown and orange boxes in your deck.
Wait until you have two completely empty slots in your tray. Tap the brown block to bring the connected brown and orange pair up. The ants will consume the brown block to clear the dark spots in the sand, while the orange block will help finish off the rest of the beach. Always verify you have two open slots before tapping a connected pair. If you tap them with only one slot open, they will not move, and you will waste time figuring out why your deck is stuck.
Step 4: Attack the dark blue sky
With the side paths fully established, your ants can now run all the way to the top edge of the board.
Pull a dark blue block into your tray to start clearing the sky. At this point, you should have a mix of dark blue, white, and light blue blocks in your tray. The board is open enough that the ants can reach all three of these colors simultaneously. Keep an eye on your orange blocks. If you still have sand left on the right side of the board, bring up another orange block to keep the bottom crew busy. Maintain a balance of top and bottom colors in your waiting slots.
Step 5: Manage the large connected orange boxes
As you clear the middle of the deck, you will uncover a massive set of connected orange boxes that takes up two slots.
Just like before, make sure you clear out two waiting slots by letting your current blocks drain. Pull the large orange connected group into the tray. The ants will swarm this massive block and wipe out the last major chunk of sand on the board. While the orange drains, continue pulling light blue and white blocks to chip away at the center of the ocean. The picture will begin to fracture into smaller floating islands of water.
Step 6: Mop up the remaining water
The sand is completely gone and only a few scattered pieces of light blue water and white waves remain.
Your board is completely open now, meaning any block you pull will have an immediate path. Pull the final light blue and white blocks from the deck. Your tray has plenty of room, so you can pull exactly what you need without fear of jamming. The ants will easily clean up the last few pixels of water, completing the beach scene and winning the level.
Final Thought
Level 502 is all about recognizing when the side paths open up so you can start working on the top of the picture early. Managing the connected boxes is easy as long as you always leave two empty slots ready. If you get stuck on how the connected boxes move or how to utilize the side paths, watch the video above this article to see exactly how the ants navigate the board.
