Welcome to Colony Flow Level 28 where we face an adorable pixel art dog. This puzzle features a cute pup wearing a colorful scarf surrounded by a massive background. You will need to manage your tray carefully because hidden connected boxes are waiting to jam your slots. Let us dive right into the solution.
Colony Flow Level 28 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture at the top of the screen shows a bright dog head. It looks exactly like a Shiba Inu. The image consists of a large light blue background filling the top and the sides of the board. The dog has a thick black outline that separates it from the background. Inside the outline you will find bright yellow fur making up most of the head. The lower face and the cheeks are white. There are small pink details for the inner ears and a tiny pink tongue. Around the neck sits a split scarf. The left side of the scarf is red. The right side of the scarf is dark blue.
Down in your tray you have standard numbered colored blocks. You will see large numbers for the yellow and light blue colors because those areas are huge. You also face special tiles in this level. The tray holds hidden boxes that obscure their color until they reach the waiting slots. Some of these hidden boxes are connected boxes. Connected boxes link together physically and take up multiple waiting slots at the same time. You must have enough empty slots to pull them up.
What It Takes to Clear Level 28 Board
Winning this level requires a steady outside approach to carve your way in. You cannot reach the white face or the pink tongue until you break through the black outline and the colorful scarf. The light blue background is totally exposed from the very beginning. This gives your ants a massive area to feed on right away without any roadblocks.
Your main goal is keeping the five waiting slots flowing continuously. If you pull up the connected boxes too early they will lock up your tray. You lose the game if all five slots fill up and no ants can reach matching food tiles. You have to open paths for the ants by clearing the outer colors first. Only pull a block when you know its ants can walk directly to a matching tile on the board. This prevents a dead end and keeps your colony moving.
Colony Flow Level 28 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Open the board by clearing the light blue background and red scarf.
Your very first moves must target the completely exposed outer edges of the picture. Start by pulling a light blue block into your waiting slots. The light blue background covers a huge portion of the board and offers a completely free path. Ants will immediately pour out of the nest hole and start eating the background pixels. Next you should pull the red block into the waiting area. The red scarf on the bottom left is also on the outer edge and fully accessible. Pulling a black block is your next smart move. The black outline wraps around the entire dog. The ants will walk up the left and right sides to start dismantling the black border. These three colors give your colony plenty of open paths to walk. The numbers on your blocks will count down quickly as the ants consume the matching tiles. This keeps your waiting slots moving and prevents any early jams.
Step 2: Introduce yellow blocks to start clearing the main fur.
Once the black outline begins to break apart you will expose the yellow fur underneath. Now is the perfect time to pull a yellow block into your tray. The yellow sections are massive and require a lot of ants. You have high number yellow blocks for a good reason. The ants will flood through the gaps in the black outline and start eating the yellow pixels. Watch the right side of the board as well. As the black outline disappears on the bottom right the dark blue scarf becomes accessible. Pull a dark blue block into an empty waiting slot. Your ants will split their attention beautifully. Some will march toward the yellow fur at the top. Others will turn right and consume the blue scarf. Always make sure a color is fully exposed on the board before you pull its matching block. This guarantees your slots will clear out and make room for the next set of moves.
Step 3: Pull the hidden connected boxes into the waiting slots.
You will eventually reach a point where the standard numbered blocks run low in the immediate tray view. The next layer of the tray contains the hidden connected boxes. You must wait until you have at least two empty slots in your waiting area to pull these up. They move as a pair and require extra room. Drag the connected boxes up to the waiting slots. Once they settle into the slots they will reveal their hidden colors. In this level they turn out to be pink and white blocks. Fortunately you have already exposed the white cheeks and the pink tongue by clearing the bottom section of the black outline. The ants will immediately recognize the newly revealed colors. They will rush out of the nest and start eating the white face and the pink tongue. Because you waited for an open path the connected boxes will not jam your board.
Step 4: Focus on the white face and remaining outline.
The white cheeks make up a large portion of the lower dog face. You will need more white blocks to finish this section entirely. Pull any newly revealed white blocks into your waiting slots. The ants will continue their march into the center of the picture and clear the muzzle. At the same time you must keep an eye on the black outline near the top of the head. There are still black pixels outlining the ears and the top of the skull. Pull another black block to send ants up the extreme sides of the board. They will climb past the cleared sections and eat the top border. Keeping multiple colors active at the same time is a great way to drain the tray faster. Just ensure you never pull a color that is buried behind another solid wall. The white ants and black ants will work together to hollow out the middle and top of the image.
Step 5: Send ants to clear the inner pink ear details.
With the white face mostly gone and the top outline broken you will expose the pink sections inside the ears. Pull another pink block into your waiting slots to target these pieces. The ants will travel all the way up the board and turn into the ear cavities. Pink is a low quantity color on this board so the block will count down very fast. This rapid countdown is exactly what you want to free up a slot quickly. Use that newly emptied slot to pull another yellow block. The yellow fur still takes up a lot of space near the top of the head between the ears. Your yellow ants will follow the pink ants up the board and eat the remaining fur. The picture is now shrinking significantly. Your main threat at this stage is pulling a color you no longer need. Read the board carefully and only pull colors that match the remaining pixels.
Step 6: Finish the remaining light blue and white pixels to win.
The final moments of the level require a simple cleanup operation. You will likely have a few scattered light blue pixels left from the top corners of the background. You will also have some leftover white pixels near the center of the face. Pull your final light blue block and your final white block into the waiting area. The last waves of ants will emerge from the nest hole. They will cross the completely empty bottom section of the board and target those final remaining pixels. The light blue ants will head for the top corners. The white ants will finish the snout. Once the ants consume the very last pixel on the board the level is complete. You successfully managed the hidden connected boxes and kept the flow moving from start to finish.
Final Thought
Taking your time to open the outer edges makes all the difference in this puzzle. The hidden connected boxes cannot ruin your game if you expose their matching colors first. Watch the video above this article if you need a visual guide for any of these moves.
