Let me show you exactly how to break this picture down from the bottom basket all the way to the night sky.

Your primary goal is to dig up from the bottom edge and create multiple wide open paths. You must clear the dark blue sky and the light blue clouds to reach the top corners. Unlocking those top corner hidden boxes early gives you the breathing room you need to process the connected blocks safely.

Colony Flow Level 1317 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Open the bottom center by clearing the dark grey basket base.

You start the level by pulling the dark grey block from your tray. This dark grey block holds fifty ants ready to work. The ants stream out of the nest hole at the bottom of the screen and head straight for the dark grey pixels at the very bottom center of the picture. This move is crucial because it creates your first real indentation into the solid wall of pixels. The ants will relentlessly eat away the bottom of the basket until twenty nine ants remain in the block. This remaining block will sit in your first waiting slot. You now have a central vertical channel open for future colors to travel through.

Step 2: Deploy the first connected blocks to attack the right side sky.

You have a yellow block with twenty five ants connected to a dark blue block with forty five ants in your tray. Pull this connected pair into your waiting slots. The dark blue ants will immediately find an open path to the dark blue sky on the right side of the board. They will swarm up the right edge and eat away a massive chunk of the night sky. The yellow block drops down to a single ant and waits in your slot because the yellow balloon stripes are still trapped behind other colors. This is exactly why you opened the board first. You always want at least one half of a connected block to find an open path immediately to prevent a slot jam.

Step 3: Send green ants up the middle to carve out the central balloon stripe.

Now that you have some breathing space you can focus on the main balloon body. Pull a green block carrying thirty ants from your tray. The green ants will flow straight up the vertical channel you created in the very first step. They will start eating the bright green stripe right down the middle of the balloon. This completely splits the main picture in half and exposes the inner edges of the pink and yellow stripes. Keeping the center open pushes your progress upward and prevents your future blocks from getting stuck in the waiting slots.

Step 4: Clear the light blue clouds on the bottom left side of the board.

Look at the bottom left corner of the picture. You have a large section of light blue clouds blocking your access to the left side of the sky. Pull your light blue blocks to send forty ants into this cloud bank. The ants will wrap around the left side of the central basket and start chewing away the light blue pixels. You need to completely remove these clouds to expose the left side dark blue sky. Watch your waiting slots closely and only pull enough light blue blocks to keep the ants flowing without jamming your empty tray spaces.

Step 5: Process the next set of connected blocks through the open bottom left corner.

Your tray will present another set of connected blocks featuring purple and light blue. Pull this set into your slots. The light blue ants will immediately rush into the remaining bottom clouds you just opened up. This continuous flow of active ants prevents the connected purple block from causing a dangerous slot jam. The purple ants will sit patiently in a waiting slot until you expose the purple border around the top of the balloon. You are safely storing the purple block while the light blue ants do the heavy lifting on the board.

Step 6: Clear the brown basket connectors below the main balloon.

The bottom of the balloon has brown connector ropes holding the basket together. Pull the brown block holding thirty three ants to send your colony into this section. They will eat the brown tiles and fully separate the balloon from the bottom edge. This move completely opens the lower half of the board. You now have wide access to the pink stripe on the left and the yellow stripe on the right. Keeping these entry points clear guarantees your ants will always have a valid target when they leave the nest.

Step 7: Send dark blue ants up the left edge to expose the top corner.

With the light blue clouds entirely gone you finally have a clear shot at the left side sky. Pull a heavy dark blue block holding forty six ants from your tray. The dark blue ants will march directly up the left boundary of the board. They will eat the remaining sky tiles and push all the way to the top left corner. This is a critical push because you need to reach that wooden frame holding the hidden box. You must maintain this left side highway to avoid a tray traffic jam later in the level.

Step 8: Break down the main pink and yellow balloon stripes.

Now you can aggressively attack the bulk of the balloon. Pull pink blocks for the left stripe and yellow blocks for the right stripe. The ants will flood into the massive solid color blocks in the center of the board. Since you already cleared the basket and the green central stripe the ants have multiple angles of attack. They will rapidly drop the total tile count. Your waiting slots might fill up briefly here but the wide open paths ensure the ants will clear out and empty the slots quickly. You will see your tile count drop below two hundred very fast.

Step 9: Unlock the top corner hidden boxes by clearing the surrounding border.

The dark blue ants on the left and the right have now reached the top corners of the picture. This clears all the standard tiles adjacent to the wooden frames. The wooden frames will break and reveal the hidden boxes. You will get a brown hidden box on the left and a green hidden box on the right. These boxes drop directly into your tray. The board is now mostly empty and your ants have a straight run from the nest hole to the very top edge of the screen.

Step 11: Release the purple ants to finish the outer border.

The final remaining color is the thick purple border outlining the entire balloon shape. You already have purple blocks waiting in your slots from earlier connected pairs. You can also pull any remaining heavy purple blocks from your tray. The purple ants will form a massive swarm across the mostly empty board. They will wrap around the entire shape and eat the final border pixels. The tile count will drop to zero and you will win the level.
