Welcome back to another puzzle guide. Colony Flow Level 88 presents a really fun challenge that requires careful planning and good timing. You face a cute pixel art bird character wearing a dark hat and bright yellow cheeks. A massive red background surrounds the character and blocks your progress early on. I played through this entire level to find the safest strategy for you. We need to clear this board without letting the five waiting slots fill up and trap the colony.

Colony Flow Level 88 Overview

What You Are Working With

The picture dominates the top of the screen. You see a white round body and a wide black hat flanked by two yellow chests with keyholes. These chests hold hidden food and require multiple adjacent clears to pop open. The red background wraps around the entire character like a thick frame. The tray at the bottom holds a massive stack of colored blocks. You have reds and whites and blacks and yellows to manage as you progress. You will also encounter connected boxes later in the stack. Two blocks link together and move into the waiting slots as a single unit. You must have enough open slots to accept them when the time comes.

What It Takes to Clear Level 88 Board

Clearing this board means peeling the picture away layer by layer from the bottom up. You start by attacking the outer red background to give your colony room to walk. Then you chew through the white body and the black feet to open the center of the board. You eventually reach the hat and the bright facial features. The final challenge involves opening those side chests and eating the hidden food tucked away inside them. You win when every single pixel tile vanishes and all the ants return to their underground nest. You lose if you pull five blocks into the slots without an open path for the ants to follow.

Colony Flow Level 88 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Clear the outer red background to open a walking path

screenshot

The game starts with an enormous red frame around the entire character. You need to pull your first red blocks to get the ants moving and create some breathing room. Grab a red thirty five block from the top of the tray and drop it into a waiting slot. The ants stream out of their dark hole and rush to the bottom edge of the red frame. This immediately opens up the lower boundaries of the board. You can also pull a white block to start working on the very bottom of the white body. Keeping both a red and a white block active ensures that the ants always have an open path to a valid target. The red background shrinks slowly as the block numbers count down toward zero and your colony clears the way.

Step 2: Hollow out the white body and black feet

As the bottom red tiles vanish the ants can reach much further into the picture. Pull a white forty two block and a black thirty block into the waiting area. The ants will naturally split their attention between the two colors. Some will march straight up toward the white belly of the character. Others will attack the black feet at the very bottom edge. You want to clear these lower sections out of the way completely to build a wider funnel for the colony to flow through. Never pull too many colors at once. The numbers on your active blocks drop quickly as the ants eat the tiles. If you pull a yellow block right now the ants cannot reach the yellow cheeks yet. That yellow block would just sit in a waiting slot without its numbers changing and take up valuable space.

Step 3: Balance your red and white block pulls evenly

The red background still heavily covers the top and sides of the character. You must keep pulling red blocks to chew away those thick outer edges. Grab another red thirty five block and watch the ants climb higher up the sides of the board. Pull a white thirty two block to continue hollowing out the center of the body. You will see the character start to lose its round shape as the white tiles disappear. The ants form long trails up the middle and up the left side. Monitor your five waiting slots closely as you make these moves. Make sure the numbers on your blocks are constantly decreasing from the thirties down to single digits. A decreasing number means the ants are actively eating that color and freeing up slot space to prevent jams.

Step 4: Introduce black blocks to dismantle the dark hat

Once the white body is mostly gone the black hat becomes exposed to your colony. Pull a black thirty six block into the waiting area to begin the assault on the hat. The ants will swarm the bottom edge of the hat and eat away the dark pixels. Watch the numbers on the black thirty six block drain down to zero. They will also finish off any remaining black pieces from the little feet. You still have some red background lingering at the very top corners of the screen. Pull another red block to send a small group of ants up to those high corners. Keeping multiple paths open is the absolute secret to winning this game and protecting your slots from filling up.

Step 5: Target the yellow and orange facial features in the center

screenshot

The center of the board now exposes the bright yellow cheeks and the orange beak. Now is the perfect time to pull a yellow twenty four block into an open slot. The yellow twenty four block counts down rapidly as the ants rush the center area and devour the cheeks. You can also pull an orange block to clear the beak and the tiny orange details. Watch the board carefully as these center tiles vanish. The two yellow chests on the sides are completely exposed now. You will see numbers on the chests counting down as the ants brush past them and clear the adjacent tiles. You want to clear everything around them so they eventually open up without jamming your flow.

Step 6: Manage the connected boxes in the tray carefully

screenshot

You will notice a special element near the bottom of your block stack as you clear more tiles. Two red blocks are linked together by a thick solid line. These are connected boxes. They move together and absolutely require two empty slots in your waiting area to function. Wait until your current block numbers reach zero and disappear from the slots. Once you have two free slots you can safely drag the connected red boxes up. The ants will use them to finish off the very last bits of the red background at the top of the hat. Planning ahead for these connected boxes prevents a fatal jam that would force you to restart the level.

Step 7: Finish the hat and prepare for the chests to open

screenshot

Pull your remaining black blocks to dissolve the top section of the hat. The numbers on your black blocks will reach zero fast as the ants focus entirely on that area. As the main character disappears the two yellow chests on the sides finally crack open. They reveal a fresh batch of yellow and orange hidden food tiles. These tiles were completely hidden until this very moment. You must clear these newly exposed tiles to officially finish the level. Having empty slots ready for this exact moment makes the final push incredibly simple and keeps paths perfectly clear.

Step 8: Clear the final hidden food tiles to win the game

Check your tray for the last remaining blocks of the stage. You should see a yellow seven block and an orange twenty four block along with a few other small numbers. Pull them directly into the waiting slots to create your final paths. The ants will diverge to the far left and right sides of the board. They will eagerly eat the newly revealed yellow and orange tiles from the opened chests. These final block numbers will decrease to zero as the board becomes completely empty. The final ants carry their food back down the hole and you win the level.

Final Thought

Level eighty eight tests your patience and your slot management skills. Do not rush to pull colors that the ants cannot reach yet. Planning your moves ensures your colony always has a clear path to follow. If you struggle with the connected boxes or the hidden food timing please watch the video above this article. The visual guide will help you master the flow and secure your victory.
