Colony Flow Level 717 puts you right in front of a beautiful tropical island scene made of pixel art that you need to clear away. I played through this puzzle myself and found the exact sequence of moves to keep the board moving without jamming the block tray. You need to manage hidden boxes and hungry doors carefully to get your ant colony to the very end. Read my firsthand strategy below to guide your ants to victory.

Colony Flow Level 717 Overview

What You Are Working With

The island picture features a large body of cyan and light blue water in the center. Yellow and orange sand sits at the bottom edge. Dark green and light green palm trees frame both sides of the water. A cluster of grey rocks rests in the middle of the scene. You will also see two Hungry Doors on the board blocking paths. The top left Hungry Door starts with a 26 on it. The bottom right Hungry Door starts with an 18.

The block tray at the bottom holds standalone blocks and connected boxes joined by lines. The bottom rows of the tray contain hidden boxes marked with question marks. These hidden boxes keep their colors secret until you clear the blocks above them and they gain a valid path to move. Your main tools are the cyan 40 blocks and various green and blue blocks that match the island colors.

What It Takes to Clear Level 717 Board

You win the level when your ants consume every single colored tile in the picture and the block tray empties out completely. You accomplish this by pulling colored blocks from the tray into the five active waiting slots. The number on each block goes down as ants use it to eat matching tiles on the board.

You lose if you fill all five waiting slots with blocks that have no open paths to matching tiles on the board. You must constantly check the exposed edges of the picture to guarantee you have an open path. Always ensure you have at least one active block that matches a color the ants can reach right now. You also need to feed the two Hungry Doors to open up the spaces behind them.

Colony Flow Level 717 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Open the bottom shoreline by playing cyan and warm colors

Start the level by pulling the cyan 40 block into your first waiting slot. Follow this up immediately by pulling the orange 19 block and the yellow 22 block. Next you will see a light blue 42 block and a green 35 block joined together as connected boxes. Pull this connected pair into your remaining two slots. This fills your five waiting slots completely but every color has an immediate open path on the board. Your ants will stream out of the nest hole and attack the orange and yellow sand tiles at the bottom of the picture. The cyan and light blue ants will head straight for the water tiles. Keeping all five slots busy with accessible colors ensures your ants keep moving and your board never hits a dead end.

Step 2: Feed the bottom right Hungry Door to clear the corner

The yellow and orange ants will quickly clear the sand and start feeding the bottom right Hungry Door. This door starts at 18. As your ants march into it the number drops down to 8 and then to 5. Once the yellow and orange blocks empty out from your active slots you gain room to bring up new blocks. Pull the dark green 40 block and the light green 5 block from the second row of the tray. This sends a massive swarm of dark green ants to tackle the thick leaves on the right side palm tree. As you pull these blocks from the second row the hidden boxes in the bottom row begin to unlock. They gain a valid path to move so the question marks disappear and reveal more light blue and cyan blocks waiting for you.

Step 3: Break the first door and push into the center water

Your ants will feed the final 5 points to the bottom right Hungry Door. The door vanishes completely and opens up the bottom right corner of the picture. With that obstacle gone your cyan and light blue ants can consume the rest of the lower water tiles. Pull the next dark green 40 block into an open slot. Grab the light blue 35 block as well. The dark green ants will push higher into the palm trees on both sides of the water. The light blue ants will eat away at the sky reflecting on the water. Always verify that your active colors match the exposed tiles. If you pull a block too early and bury it behind other colors you risk jamming your waiting slots and failing the level.

Step 4: Target the top left Hungry Door with brown blocks

Notice the Hungry Door in the top left corner sitting at 26. You need brown blocks to feed this door. A brown block will become available in your tray. Pull the brown 3 block into one of your active slots. Your ants will grab the brown color and march all the way up the left side of the board to feed the door. The number on the door drops significantly. While this happens keep your other slots filled with dark green and cyan blocks. The dark green 38 block is perfect here. Your ants will continue clearing the large palm tree on the left side while the brown ants work on the door. This dual approach keeps the colony flowing smoothly without creating any bottlenecks.

Step 5: Process the connected green boxes and clear the upper canopy

The top left Hungry Door finally reaches zero and disappears. You now have an open path to the upper left corner of the sky and tree canopy. Look at your tray and find the connected boxes holding a light green 3 block and another light green 3 block. Pull these connected boxes into your active slots. Follow them with the dark green 31 block and the green 29 block. The ants will swarm the top left canopy and strip away the remaining leaves. Doing this fully uncovers the final hidden boxes at the bottom of your tray. The tray now shows large cyan and light blue blocks. Your board is getting very clean but you must still match the remaining exposed colors carefully to avoid a late game loss.

Step 6: Mop up the remaining sky and water tiles

The picture is almost completely gone now. Only a few patches of cyan sky and a handful of dark green palm leaves remain at the very top. Pull the cyan 39 block and the light blue 16 block from the newly revealed hidden boxes. The ants will rush the top edge of the board and consume the sky pixels. Once the final green tiles are exposed bring up the final dark green 5 block. Then pull the two cyan 27 blocks into your remaining slots. The last few ants will run up the board and clear the final cyan tiles. The picture disappears entirely and the tray empties out.

Final Thought

Keeping a steady flow of ants requires you to balance the colors in your waiting slots perfectly. Never let your slots fill up with colors that are trapped behind other tiles. If you find any of these moves hard to visualize please watch the video above this article to see exactly how the blocks clear the board.
