Welcome to Colony Flow Level 479 where you take on a beautiful landscape pixel art picture. This puzzle requires careful planning to carve paths through the soil and water before reaching the trees and mountains above. You will face connected boxes in the tray that require you to manage multiple colors at once. I played through this board and will show you exactly how to reach the end without jamming your waiting slots.
Colony Flow Level 479 Overview
What You Are Working With
The pixel art picture shows a bright nature scene. The bottom layer consists of dark red soil. Right above the soil you see a layer of orange ground. The middle area features a wide band of light blue water. Above the water you find large green trees. Huge dark purple mountains rise in the background behind the trees. A bright yellow sun sits in the top left corner of a massive white sky. Down in the tray you have blocks matching all these specific colors. The numbers on these blocks tell you exactly how many ants will spawn to eat the tiles. Some blocks hold high numbers like 52 or 45 which will unleash a massive swarm of ants. Other blocks have small numbers like three or four for quick spot duty. You will also notice green lines linking some of the blocks together in the tray. These are connected boxes. They move as a single group which adds a tough layer of challenge to your planning.
What It Takes to Clear Level 479 Board
To clear this board you must work your way from the bottom up to the top. The ants can only eat tiles that are fully open and accessible. You start with the dark red soil and slowly open paths to the higher layers. Your biggest threat is filling the five waiting slots at the bottom of the screen. If you pull blocks that have no open tiles on the board the ants will have nowhere to go. The block will sit there stuck. If you do this five times the game ends and you lose immediately. You must always ensure every single block you pull has a clear path to its matching color on the board.
Colony Flow Level 479 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the dark red soil layer first
Your very first move targets the dark red tiles at the bottom of the picture. These are the only tiles fully exposed at the start of the level. You tap a dark red block in the tray to send out the first wave of ants. The dark red ants stream out of the nest hole and begin eating the bottom row of the soil. You watch the number on the block count down as the ants do their work. The first dark red block has a high number like 35 so it takes a little while for the ants to process all those tiles. You do not pull any other blocks yet because the other colors are completely blocked by the soil. Letting the dark red ants finish their job keeps your waiting slots clear and totally safe.
Step 2: Push through the orange ground layer
With the dark red soil mostly gone the orange layer becomes completely accessible. You now pull the orange blocks from the tray. The orange ants march up and start clearing the ground layer. This is a critical moment because the orange tiles block the light blue water and the green trees. You must clear a large chunk of this orange ground to create multiple paths for your future moves. The orange ants naturally spread out and find the closest open tiles to eat. Keep your eyes on the five waiting slots and only pull another block when you are sure the orange ants have plenty of open space to eat. Rushing this step will easily cause a fatal traffic jam in your slots.
Step 3: Send white ants up the outer edges
While you work on the middle section you can also take advantage of the white sky tiles on the far left and right edges. These outer white tiles are open right from the beginning of the level. You pull a white block to send white ants marching up the sides of the board. This is a very smart way to process large white blocks early in the game without clogging up the central paths. A block with a number like 52 sends a massive line of white ants wrapping around the outside of the picture. The white ants quietly clear the borders while you continue dismantling the ground and water in the middle.
Step 4: Manage the connected boxes in the tray
You will soon encounter the connected boxes in your tray. These blocks have green lines linking them together. When you tap one of these blocks both linked blocks drop into your waiting slots at the exact same time. You must be very careful with this mechanic. For example if a green block and a white block are connected you need to verify that both green tiles and white tiles are open on the board. Pulling a connected box without checking the board is a guaranteed way to lose the level. Since you already opened the white edges and the green trees are getting exposed you safely pull this pair. Both sets of ants find their targets and keep the slots from jamming up.
Step 5: Drain the light blue water section
The light blue water sits right in the middle of the picture. Once the orange ground is out of the way the water tiles are wide open for your ants. You pull the light blue blocks from the tray and watch the ants swarm the middle of the board. The water section is quite large so you will need to pull several light blue blocks to finish the job. Blocks with numbers like 40 unleash a huge tide of ants into the pool. You pace your moves carefully to ensure the ants always have an open path. Clearing the water creates a massive opening that gives you direct access to the rest of the green trees and the dark purple mountains.
Step 6: Chop down the green trees
The green trees stand directly in front of the dark purple mountains. You cannot reach the mountains until you remove the green pixels. You pull the remaining green blocks from the tray. The green ants rush in and chew through the trees. You wait patiently as the numbers on the green blocks hit zero. The trees have complex jagged shapes so the ants take unexpected paths to find their food. Removing the trees completely changes the shape of the board and exposes the massive mountain range in the background. Your waiting slots remain empty because you took the time to let the green ants finish their meal completely.
Step 7: Conquer the dark purple mountains
The dark purple mountains take up a huge portion of the top half of the picture. Now that the trees are gone the mountains are completely vulnerable. You tap the dark purple blocks and send your ants up the middle of the board. The dark purple ants spread out across the peaks. Since you need a lot of ants to clear this section you will need to pull multiple dark purple blocks in a row. A block with 40 dark purple ants carves a massive hole in the mountainside. You make sure the previous dark purple ants are still finding paths before you pull the next block to avoid a deadly jam in your slots.
Step 8: Reach the yellow sun and clear the sky
The yellow sun is tucked away in the top left corner of the board. You finally have a clear path to it after dismantling the mountains. You tap the yellow block and the ants rush up to eat the sun. The yellow block only holds a small number of ants because the sun is a small detail. At the same time the inner white sky tiles are now completely open. You pull the rest of the white blocks from the tray. The white ants flood the top of the board and erase the remaining sky. The picture is almost entirely gone and your waiting slots are completely safe from any danger.
Step 9: Clean up the final scattered pieces
You reach the very end of the game with only a few scattered tiles left on the board. You look at your tray and see the last few blocks waiting for you. You tap the final light blue white and green blocks. These last blocks usually have very small numbers like four or six. The last few ants march out and hunt down the remaining isolated pixels. Watching these final ants clean up the board is highly satisfying. The entire board turns blank and the level ends in a glorious victory. You managed the connected boxes perfectly and never let your waiting slots fill up.
Final Thought
This level tests your ability to manage multiple colors and deal with connected boxes without panicking. Keeping a steady pace and always verifying your paths will guide you to a reliable win. I highly recommend taking your time and reading the board before every single move. Rushing your pulls will only lead to a jammed tray and a frustrating loss.
