Colony Flow Level 493 drops you into a beautiful but crowded puzzle where every single move counts. You must coordinate your ant colony to eat a massive pixel art picture of a charming house nestled beneath gigantic blue flowers. The board looks fairly straightforward at first glance but the bottom tray holds a few tricky mechanics that require careful planning and precise timing. I played through this puzzle multiple times and found that slot management is your biggest hurdle. You have only five waiting slots at the bottom of the screen to hold your numbered blocks. If you fill all five slots with blocks that have no clear path to their matching tiles on the board, the ants stay in the nest and the level completely jams up. My entire walkthrough revolves around preventing this gridlock so you can secure the win.
Colony Flow Level 493 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture dominates the entire top half of your screen. You have a white picket fence and a white house base running across the very bottom. The middle section features thick green leaves and bright orange structural details. The top half is completely dominated by huge light blue and cyan flower petals surrounded by a solid yellow background. Down in your tray you face a large stack of numbered color blocks. Some blocks are standard but you also face a strict Lock and Key setup. A green key rests on the board while the corresponding lock traps a crucial light blue block in your tray. You also have Connected Boxes that must be pulled together as a group. Finally you have a Hidden Box that keeps its color a total secret until you clear a valid path for it to move.
What It Takes to Clear Level 493 Board
Winning this level requires a methodical bottom up approach. You cannot reach the massive blue flowers or the solid yellow background without first demolishing the white fence and the central house structure. Your first primary goal is to carve a clear path to that green key. Collecting the key unlocks your trapped light blue block so you can finally tackle the giant flowers. You must constantly balance pulling large numbers with small cleanup blocks so your five waiting slots never back up. You will slowly push your way from the fence up into the roof and then swarm the giant flowers before flooding the outer edges with yellow ants to finish the job.
Colony Flow Level 493 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Pull the starting white block to tear down the fence.
The board gives you exactly one valid opening move to start the level. The entire bottom edge of the picture consists of white tiles forming a fence and the foundation of the little house. Grab the White 30 block from your tray and drop it into a waiting slot. The white ants stream out of the nest hole and march straight up to the bottom edge of the picture. They quickly chew through the fence line. The number thirty counts down as each individual ant grabs a white tile and runs away. This single move opens up the entire lower half of the house and gives you access to multiple new colors.
Step 2: Dispatch the green and orange ants to dismantle the house details.
With the white barrier completely gone you can now see the orange roof pieces and the thick green leaf structures. Pull the Green 46 block and the Orange 35 block into your slots. The green ants begin dismantling the large leaves on the left side of the house while the orange ants target the roof and window frames. You want to keep the ants flowing constantly so your waiting slots do not back up. The green block has a very high number so it will stay in your slot for quite a while. This continuous stream of green ants slowly works its way toward the right side of the house where the green key sits waiting for you.
Step 3: Collect the green key to break the tray lock.
You absolutely need to get that green key to unlock the light blue block trapped in your tray. Pull the Dark Purple 25 block into a slot to help clear the dark window shadows. Combine this with smaller green and orange pulls to carve away the center of the house. The dark purple ants chew through the dark structural details and help expose the remaining green tiles underneath. As the green ants finally eat the specific tile holding the green key the lock in your tray instantly shatters. This frees the Light Blue 25 block and opens up your next major phase of the attack on the board.
Step 4: Manage the connected boxes to begin attacking the big flowers.
Look down at your tray and locate the Connected Boxes. You will see a Dark Purple 25 block physically linked to a Light Blue 35 block. Pulling one brings both of them into your waiting slots simultaneously. You must ensure you have two completely open slots before making this move. Because you just cleared the center of the house both of these colors now have open paths. The dark purple ants finish off the remaining dark window outlines. The light blue ants surge upward and take their very first bites out of the massive blue flowers crowning the top of the house.
Step 5: Reveal the hidden box by clearing the lower petals.
The light blue ants are now making heavy progress on the bottom edges of the flowers. This upward forward movement provides a valid open path for the Hidden Box in your tray. The question mark drops away to reveal another large colored block. Pull this newly revealed block into your slots to keep the momentum going. You want to maintain a steady swarm of ants attacking the flowers from all angles. Do not rush to pull every block in the tray at once. Wait until the current numbers drop below ten before loading another massive block into the slots to protect yourself from a dead end.
Step 6: Swarm the giant blue flowers with cyan and light blue ants.
The top half of the board is almost entirely made up of huge blue and cyan flower petals. Pull the Light Blue 32 and Light Blue 33 blocks from the tray to unleash your swarm. Your screen will fill with ants as they tear into the giant flowers. The sheer volume of blue tiles means these high number blocks will drain fast. A large dense tile block resting on the board requires a swarm of cyan ants to chew through it completely. Watch the ants eat away the main body of the flowers and the thick center sections. You must wait for these flowers to nearly vanish before you touch the yellow background blocks.
Step 7: Flood the outer edges with yellow ants to clear the background.
The blue flowers are now completely gone and only a few stray house tiles remain scattered around. The solid yellow background is finally exposed along every outer edge of the screen. Pull the Yellow 40 block followed by the Yellow 35 and the other Yellow 35. A massive flood of yellow ants pours out of the nest. They split up and run up both sides of the board to eat the sky and background tiles. Toss any remaining small white or light blue blocks into your slots to clean up the final stray pixels. The yellow ants wrap around the top corners and consume the absolute last few tiles to trigger the victory screen.
Final Thought
Colony Flow Level 493 demands extreme patience and excellent slot management. You must resist the urge to pull the large yellow background blocks before the central house and flowers are totally gone. Doing so will instantly freeze your board. If you run into any trouble handling the connected boxes or spotting the green key just watch the video above this article. The gameplay footage will show you exactly how to pace your pulls and keep those five waiting slots perfectly clear all the way to the end.
