Colony Flow Level 156 Overview

What You Are Working With

The main feature of this board is a giant pixel art flower filling almost the entire screen. Right in the center you will find a large yellow circle that forms a smiley face complete with black eyes and a black smile. Surrounding this cheerful face are large colorful petals in purple light blue pink green orange red and yellow. Around the entire flower is a thick circular rainbow border made of several different colored rings stacked tightly together. The very outer layer is black followed by purple pink green yellow orange and red layers on the inside.

At the bottom of the screen is the nest hole where your ants spawn and wait for your commands. Below that nest is your block tray holding all the numbered colored blocks you need to clear the board. Between the nest and the tray are five empty waiting slots. This level does not contain any tricky special tiles. The challenge here comes entirely from the sheer number of tiles and the tight overlapping layers of the circular border. You have to peel this puzzle like an onion by starting from the bottom outside edge and carefully working your way inside.

What It Takes to Clear Level 156 Board

To win this level you must clear every single pixel art tile from the screen. You do this by pulling colored numbered blocks from the tray at the bottom up into the waiting slots. When a block sits in a slot a colony of ants of that exact matching color pours out of the nest and runs up to eat the matching tiles on the board. The main catch is that the ants need an open physical path to reach their food. If you pull a block and the ants cannot reach the matching color because other tiles block the way that block just sits in your slot.

This brings us to the core way you lose the game. You only have five waiting slots available. If you fill all five slots with blocks that have no open path your board dead ends and you fail the level immediately. Your entire strategy must revolve around always keeping at least one path open so the ants can keep moving. You will start at the very bottom of the rainbow rings and chew a narrow hole straight through to the lower petals. Once you break through the bottom layers you can clear the lower petals and open a massive path directly into the large yellow face. From there the entire board opens up and you can send ants to clear the sides and the top sections freely.

Colony Flow Level 156 Step by Step Solution

Step 1: Break through the bottom outer rings.

You begin the level by focusing entirely on the lowest part of the rainbow border right above the nest. Pull a Black block an Orange block and a Green block into your empty waiting slots. The black ants will immediately attack the outermost black ring at the very bottom center. The orange ants and green ants will follow right behind them to eat the next layers inward as soon as the outer tiles disappear. You want to watch the numbers on your blocks count down slowly as the ants consume the tiles. This action creates a small but vital gap at the bottom of the circle. Do not pull any other colors from your tray yet because they will not have a path to their matching tiles and will just clog your slots.

Step 2: Widen the gap in the border layers.

Once the black orange and green rings are broken at the bottom you finally have access to the inner rings. Pull a Yellow block up from the tray to send yellow ants straight into the new gap. They will rush in and eat the yellow section of the bottom ring. You are slowly chewing a tunnel straight up toward the flower petals. Keep your eyes on the remaining tiles in those bottom rings. As soon as the yellow ring breaks you will expose the bottom edge of the flower petals. You must be patient during this phase and let the ants clear the path completely before making your next move.

Step 3: Clear the lower flower petals.

With your tunnel finished you can now reach the bottom petals of the flower. Pull a Light Blue block a Pink block and another Green block from your tray. The pink ants will rush straight up the center tunnel and into the bottom center pink petal. The light blue ants will branch off to the left side to eat the bottom left light blue petal. The green ants will head to the right to consume the bottom right green petal. This is a very satisfying part of the level because clearing these three large petals creates a massive open space right under the central yellow face. Your waiting slots will empty out quickly as these large numbered blocks count down to zero and vanish.

Step 4: Consume the central yellow smiley face.

Now that you have a wide open path to the center it is time to tackle the biggest piece of the puzzle. Pull a large Yellow block from the tray into a slot. The yellow ants will pour through the bottom gap run across the empty space and flood into the yellow smiley face. They start eating the face from the bottom edge and slowly work their way up row by row. Because the yellow face contains so many individual tiles this block will take a long time to count down. You must be patient here and let the yellow ants do their work. Avoid filling your other four slots with colors that cannot reach their targets yet to prevent a fatal board jam.

Step 5: Attack the left and right outer borders.

While the yellow ants are busy eating the giant face you can start working on the sides of the board. The left and right inside edges of the outer rings are now exposed to the open center. Pull a Red block and a Light Blue block into your slots. The red ants will run up the left side to eat the red petal and the inner red ring. The light blue ants will tackle the outer blue rings on the far sides. You can also pull a Pink block and a Purple block if you see open paths on the outer edges. The screen will soon be swarming with hundreds of colorful ants moving in every direction. Just remember to count your empty slots and never pull a fifth block unless you are absolutely sure it has a clear path to its target.

Step 6: Clear the eyes and the upper petals.

As the central yellow face disappears the black eyes and the black smile become accessible to your ants. Pull a Black block to send ants up the middle to clean up these face details. At the exact same time you want to clear the remaining upper petals. Pull an Orange block to clear the top right orange petal. Pull a Green block for the upper right side green petal. The ants will march right up through the empty center space and spread out to eat the top half of the flower. The board is very open and empty now so you have a lot of freedom to pull blocks as long as the matching colors are touching empty space.

Step 7: Finish the top sections of the rings.

You are now down to the final stretches of the board with only a few pieces remaining. The only things left are the top arches of the rainbow rings and maybe a few stray tiles on the very top petals. Pull the remaining Orange Black Purple and Yellow blocks from your tray to finish the job. The ants will crawl all the way up to the very top edge of the screen to eat the final pieces of the rainbow border. The numbers on your blocks will drop to zero one by one as the last tiles vanish. Once the last tile is eaten the remaining ants will return to the nest and you will win the level completely.

Final Thought

This board looks extremely intimidating at first because of all the thick layers but it falls apart easily once you punch a solid hole through the bottom. Just remember to take it slow at the start and never crowd your waiting slots before the center opens up. Keep your paths clear and always think one move ahead. If you find any of these moves hard to picture in text just watch the video above this article. Seeing the ants clear the paths in real time makes the whole strategy click perfectly.
