Colony Flow Level 285 features a cool pixel art cat wearing bright red and black sunglasses. You need to guide your ant colony through a tight maze of interlocking colors to completely clear this board. The layout forces you to manage your tray space carefully from your very first move. I played this level several times to map out the safest path to the top.
Colony Flow Level 285 Overview
What You Are Working With
The board displays a yellow cat face right in the center. The cat wears large sunglasses made of thick black frame tiles and bright red lens tiles. A tiny pink nose sits just below the glasses. A large block of light blue background tiles surrounds the entire cat on all sides. The tray at the bottom holds multiple layers of numbered blocks matching these exact colors. You see a yellow block needing forty five ants to clear. You see a black block needing forty two ants. A light blue block demands forty three ants while a tiny pink block requires just six ants. More blocks sit hidden beneath the top layer of the tray. You have exactly five waiting slots to hold these blocks while the ants do their work.
What It Takes to Clear Level 285 Board
Your goal is to clear the entire pixel art picture to win the level. You drag a colored block from the tray and drop it into one of the five waiting slots at the bottom of the screen. The ants emerge from the dark nest hole in the floor. They run along the open paths and eat the matching colored tiles on the board. Each tile they eat subtracts one from the number on the block. The block clears from your slot only when the number drops all the way to zero. If you fill all five slots with blocks that have no exposed tiles you suffer a board jam and lose the level. You must play carefully and always ensure at least one block in your slots has a valid open path. Ants always take the shortest open path to their target color and they cannot eat blocked tiles. This means you must clear the colors in the exact order they become exposed from the bottom up.
Colony Flow Level 285 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: You clear the bottom light blue background and the yellow neck.
You start by attacking the only available targets at the very bottom of the board. The light blue background and the yellow neck of the cat are fully exposed to the nest hole. You drag a light blue block with a high number into your first waiting slot. You drag a yellow block into your second waiting slot. The ants immediately pour out of the hole and divide their numbers. Half of them run left and right to eat the bottom corners of the background. The other half run straight up to consume the yellow neck tiles. You watch the numbers drop steadily as the ants work. You pull another light blue block into your third slot to keep the background clearing at a good fast pace. You leave two slots completely empty right now. Playing safe in the beginning sets you up for a smooth run later.
Step 2: You work your way up the yellow cheeks and start the black sunglasses frame.
The ants finish eating the yellow neck and reveal the thick bottom edge of the black sunglasses. You drag a black block into an open waiting slot to get the ants started on the frame right away. The ants rush up the middle to start breaking apart the black border. The yellow cheeks are now fully exposed on both sides of the face. You drag another yellow block into your tray to keep the ants chewing on the fur. You also drag another light blue block into a slot to continue pushing up the left and right background edges. Now you have three different colors active in your waiting slots. This multi path strategy is the best way to win. The ants split into many smaller groups and attack the board from several angles. The numbers on your blocks drop simultaneously and keep your slots rotating nicely.
Step 3: You clear the pink nose and tackle the red lenses inside the glasses.
The ants clear enough of the yellow cheeks to uncover the tiny pink nose in the center of the face. You pull the pink block into your tray immediately. The ants snap up those few pink tiles in seconds and the block vanishes from your slot. Removing the nose and the bottom section of the black frame opens up the bright red lenses of the sunglasses. You drag a red block into a waiting slot. The ants flood into the empty space and start devouring the red tiles from the inside out. You pull another black block to maintain pressure on the outer frame of the glasses. You still keep a light blue block active in the tray to ensure the background continues to recede at the same pace. You never let the background get left behind or it will cause a terrible jam near the end of the level.
Step 4: You finish the sunglasses and move up the solid yellow forehead.
The ants finish eating the red lenses entirely. The top half of the black frame is the only thing standing between you and the upper head of the cat. You pull your final large black block to dismantle the top of the glasses. Once the black tiles vanish the solid yellow forehead becomes totally accessible. You drag a large yellow block into the tray to send a massive swarm of ants straight up the center of the board. You also drag a light blue block with a high number to chew through the background near the sides of the head. The tray reveals deeper layers of blocks as you pull them. You must plan your pulls carefully so you do not trap a needed color under a block you cannot use yet. You keep your slots balanced and let the ants carve out the upper half of the face.
Step 5: You clear the yellow ears and the top light blue background area.
The board is now reduced to the two pointy yellow ears and the top strip of the light blue background. The ears contain many tiles and require heavy ant numbers to clear completely. You drag two yellow blocks into your slots to deal with both ears at the same time. You drag a light blue block to start clearing the space directly above the cat head. You have to monitor your slots extremely closely during this phase because your tray options are getting very low. You wait patiently for the yellow blocks to hit zero before you pull the next light blue block. You never fill that fifth waiting slot unless you are absolutely certain the ants can reach those tiles immediately. A hasty pull here will clog your tray and ruin your entire run.
Step 6: You empty the tray and clear the final top border tiles to win.
Only a thin outline of tiles remains at the absolute top of the board. You see the last yellow tips of the ears and a narrow row of light blue background tiles touching the top edge. You drag the last yellow block into a slot to finish off the ears. You drag the remaining light blue blocks into your open slots. The ants stream all the way across the empty board and climb to the top corners. They consume the final light blue tiles and the last few yellow pixels. You watch the final numbers on the blocks tick down to zero. The blocks disappear from your slots and the board is completely clean. You win the level through careful pacing and smart color management.
Final Thought
Level 285 demands patience and a solid understanding of how the ants path to their targets. You succeed by keeping your active colors balanced and never forcing a block into the tray too early. Watch the video above this article if any step is hard to follow in text. The visual guide will help clarify the exact timing of the block pulls during the tricky middle section.
