Welcome back to another puzzle solving session where we tackle Colony Flow Level 139 together. This level features a beautifully detailed pixel art design of a yellow cat sitting in a grassy field with a mountain and a bright sky. I play every single level myself to figure out the exact best routes so you do not have to guess and fail. This specific board demands very careful slot management because you have locked elements and hidden boxes waiting in your tray to trip you up.
Colony Flow Level 139 Overview
What You Are Working With
The board displays a large yellow cat sitting on a field of light green and dark green grass. Over on the left side sits a dark purple mountain. Above the cat and filling the background is a large cyan sky. A massive brown section sits near the top of the board acting as a counter that ticks down as you clear tiles. Down in your lower tray you have several standard color coded blocks holding numbers. You will see light green, cyan, dark green, yellow, orange, and dark purple blocks. You will also immediately notice a cyan block wrapped tightly in a blue lock icon. You cannot interact with this locked block until you find and collect the keys hidden on the board. Finally the tray holds several gray hidden boxes marked with question marks. These boxes hide their true color until you commit to pulling them into a waiting slot.
What It Takes to Clear Level 139 Board
You win this level by pulling numbered blocks from the tray into your five waiting slots to send ants out of the nest hole. The colored ants travel along open paths to eat their matching food tiles. The numbers on your blocks decrease as the ants consume the tiles. When a block hits zero it completely disappears from the slot. You lose the game if you fill all five waiting slots with blocks that have no open paths to their matching tiles. You must always maintain an open route so the ants keep moving and the slots keep emptying. Your primary goal on this board is to peel away the outer grass and sky to open safe paths to the cat, the mountain, and the keys you need for that locked tray block.
Colony Flow Level 139 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Pull the outer edge colors to open initial pathways
The absolute worst move you can make right away is grabbing a center color like yellow. The yellow cat is completely blocked from the nest hole by the solid wall of grass. Instead you must start with the colors located on the extreme outer edges of the board. Select the light green block and the cyan block from your tray. Pulling the light green block sends ants out to eat the grass on the far left and right sides. Pulling the cyan block sends a wave of ants to eat the exposed sky tiles on the outer right edge. Both of these paths are completely open from the very first second of the level. The ants will march out of the dark hole without running into any blockades. The numbers on both blocks will count down quickly and eventually clear out of your waiting slots. Keep a close watch on the numbers on your tray blocks. You want to see them steadily counting down to zero. This simple opening move chips away the outer walls and exposes the inner tiles for your future moves.
Step 2: Clear the grass to reach the yellow cat body
With the outer grass receding you now have a narrow but clear path to the yellow cat in the center of the board. Look at your tray and find the large yellow block holding the number 36. Pull it down into one of your empty waiting slots. A massive swarm of yellow ants will stream out of the hole and march straight toward the cat paws. They will begin eating the bright yellow tiles that make up the main body and head of the cat design. You will notice the numbers dropping incredibly fast as they spread out. By pulling this yellow block you accomplish two vital things. You remove a massive chunk of tiles from the center of the board and you start exposing the special keys embedded within the cat design. The cat design is quite large so you will need multiple yellow blocks to finish the job. Take your time and let one yellow block clear out of your waiting slots before you pull another one down. You must keep your eyes on those keys because they are your only ticket to unlocking the rest of your tray.
Step 3: Collect the keys to free the locked tray block
As the yellow ants devour the cat body they will inevitably eat the specific tiles holding the key icons. You absolutely need these keys to unlock that stubborn cyan block sitting uselessly in your tray. Continue feeding yellow blocks into the waiting slots as long as you have an open path directly to the cat. You will also need to pull an orange block to clear the outline details of the cat to ensure you reach every single key hidden in the fur. Once the ants consume the last key tile on the board a highly satisfying animation happens down in your tray. You can literally see the lock icon shatter and fall away. This mechanic requires patience because pulling random blocks hoping to bypass the lock will only result in all five of your waiting slots filling up with useless blocks. That cyan block is now completely free and ready to use. Do not pull it just yet because we need to clear a few other obstacles first.
Step 4: Consume the dark purple mountain on the left side
Look over to the left side of the board where the dark purple mountain sits. Early on this mountain was entirely blocked by the light green grass. Because you spent your first few moves clearing that grass you now have a wide open path leading directly from the nest hole to the mountain base. Grab the dark purple block from your tray and pull it down into an empty slot. The dark purple ants will pour out and march straight up the left side of the screen. They will chew through the mountain tiles from the bottom all the way to the peak. The dark purple block holds the number 35 which perfectly matches the amount of mountain tiles. Once those 35 ants finish their meal your slot opens back up keeping you far away from the dreaded five slot limit. This is a very safe tactical move because the path is guaranteed and the dark purple block will definitely reach zero and leave your waiting slot. Clearing this mountain removes a major physical barrier on the left side and gives you much more breathing room for the tricky moves ahead.
Step 5: Reveal the hidden boxes safely with open paths
Now that the board is wide open you can safely interact with the hidden boxes in your tray. These gray blocks with question marks are incredibly dangerous if you pull them too early. They hide their true color until they physically drop into a waiting slot. If a hidden box reveals a color that has no open path it will jam your slot permanently and push you closer to a loss. You waited until the grass, the mountain, and most of the cat were cleared. This means almost every single remaining color has an exposed edge. Pull one hidden box down. Whether it flips over to reveal orange, dark green, or cyan, the ants will immediately find a valid path and start eating. I always hold my breath when pulling a hidden box but this late in the game the risk is completely minimized. You have created a board state where every single color is accessible from the nest hole. The block will empty out and keep your slot safe. You can repeat this process for the other hidden boxes in your tray as long as you never pull more than two at the exact same time.
Step 6: Deploy the unlocked cyan block to clear the sky
Remember that locked cyan block you freed earlier by collecting the keys. Now is the perfect moment to use it. A huge portion of the cyan sky remains at the top of the board. Because you cleared the cat head and the mountain there is absolutely nothing standing between the nest hole and the sky tiles. Pull that unlocked cyan block down into your waiting slot. A huge stream of cyan ants will rush straight up the middle of the board and spread out across the top layer. The cyan ants move like water filling in the gaps and consuming the sky at an incredible speed. This move also forces the massive brown counter section at the very top of the board to shrink significantly. You will see the numbers on the large brown counter block tick down rapidly as the surrounding tiles vanish. As the cyan sky disappears the entire upper half of the level opens up completely. Your board is now mostly empty with just a few scattered details left to clean up.
Step 7: Finish the remaining grass and cat details
You are now in the final stretch of the level. Only a small handful of tiles remain on the board. You might see a few dark green patches from the grass or a few orange tiles from the tip of the cat tail. Look at your tray and pull the matching green and orange blocks. Because the board is virtually empty the ants will take a direct straight line path to these final isolated tiles. This final cleanup phase is where many players lose focus and accidentally pull the wrong color. Watch your waiting slots very closely and do not pull any unnecessary colors. Stay vigilant and only feed the exact colors needed to clear the last remaining food pieces. Once the final tile is eaten the ants will finish their job and the victory screen will pop up. You successfully managed your five slots and navigated the locked blocks perfectly.
Final Thought
This level is a fantastic test of your patience and your slot management skills. Colony Flow punishes impatience but heavily rewards careful planning. Rushing the hidden boxes or pulling center colors too early will instantly ruin your run and force a restart. If you find yourself getting stuck on the key locations or the exact order of moves I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article. Seeing the ants pathing in real time makes it much easier to copy the strategy and secure your win without any frustration.
