Welcome to Colony Flow Level 38. This level presents a massive orange pixel art fish with large white eyes against a bright blue background. You start with limited paths and a tray filled with high numbered blocks. You need to manage your tray space carefully because this level relies heavily on connected blocks. I play every stage directly to verify the mechanics and this one requires strict timing to keep your waiting slots from jamming. Let me show you exactly how to navigate this puzzle without hitting a dead end.
Colony Flow Level 38 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture shows a huge orange fish character with white legs pointing downward. The fish has huge white eyes with dark pupils and pink cheek details. A solid blue background surrounds the entire character on the top and sides. In your tray you have multiple colors including orange, white, blue, black, yellow, and pink. The numbers on these blocks are quite high with many holding thirty or more ants. This level features the connected boxes mechanic. These are two or more blocks linked together with a glowing line. Pulling one brings the whole group into your waiting slots at the exact same time. Managing these specific linked pairs is your top priority.
What It Takes to Clear Level 38 Board
You clear the board by feeding every single pixel art tile to your ant colony. You match the colored blocks in your tray to the exposed tiles on the picture. The ants travel out of the nest hole and follow open paths to the matching colors. The main challenge is your hard limit of five waiting slots. Connected blocks take up two slots instantly. If you pull a connected pair before both colors are reachable on the board the unmatchable color will sit in your tray. This permanently burns a slot until a proper path opens up. If you fill all five slots with blocked colors you lose the level immediately. You win by timing your block pulls perfectly so the ants always have an open path to work on and your slots keep rotating.
Colony Flow Level 38 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Open the bottom area by clearing the white legs and lower orange body
The only reachable tiles at the very beginning are the white legs dropping down from the main body. You must send up your initial white blocks to clear these legs out of the way. Watch the little ants stream out of the nest hole at the bottom. They travel straight up to eat the white tiles. Once the legs vanish the ants gain access to the flat bottom edge of the orange fish. Pull your top orange blocks next. The orange area is massive so the ants will quickly drain the numbers on these first orange blocks. Clearing the flat bottom edge creates a wide opening across the entire lower half of the screen. This exposes the dark outline and the blue background on the lower left and right corners. You now have multiple open directions to send your colony.
Step 2: Bring up the first connected pair to attack the blue background and dark outline
Now that the bottom border is gone you have paths leading to both the blue background and the dark outline. This is your cue to pull the connected blue and black block pair from the tray. Connected boxes are tricky but very satisfying when handled right. Because both colors are now exposed on the board the ants will stream out and drain both blocks simultaneously. This is exactly how you handle connected boxes safely. Never pull them unless you see a clear path for every color in the link. The ants will chew away the lower corners of the blue background. At the same time another group of ants will start working their way up the dark outline. Your slots remain clear because neither block gets stuck waiting.
Step 3: Flood the board with orange blocks to carve out the main body
The vast majority of the picture is the orange body of the fish. You can safely pull several orange blocks into your waiting slots right now. The exposed surface area is so wide that the ants will spread out evenly. They work together to drain multiple orange blocks at the exact same time. Keep your eyes on the numbers counting down in your tray. As the orange body disappears the paths move higher toward the center of the face. You want to clear enough orange to expose the bottom edge of the large white eyes. You also need to uncover the pink cheek details. Sending waves of ants into the orange mass is the fastest way to open the middle section.
Step 4: Target the white eyes and pink cheeks as they become exposed
With the lower half of the orange face gone the ants can finally reach the large white eyes and the pink cheeks. Pull your pink block to clear the cheeks first. These are small details so the pink block will empty quickly and free up a waiting slot for your next move. Next you should pull your white blocks to send the colony after the massive white eye sections. The ants will swarm upward into the eye sockets and eat away the white tiles. This deepens the opening in the center of the board. Eventually this gives you a direct path to the dark pupils and the purple highlight tiles inside the eyes.
Step 5: Time the connected pairs containing rare colors perfectly
You will spot connected block pairs containing rare colors in your tray. For example you might see a yellow block tied to a blue block. Yellow is a rare color on this board and corresponds to a tiny detail near the face. You must wait until the ants have completely cleared the surrounding orange and white tiles. This action exposes the hidden yellow tile. Do not pull this connected pair until you are absolutely sure the yellow tile is open and reachable. Once you verify the path is clear you can pull the pair into your slots. The yellow block will drain almost instantly. Meanwhile the ants continue clearing the blue background tiles around the outside of the fish. Managing these rare linked pairs correctly keeps you from losing the level.
Step 6: Send the colony up the left and right sides of the blue background
The blue background forms a large continuous border around the entire character. Now that the lower sections are clear the ants must travel up the left and right sides. They need to reach the remaining blue tiles near the top. Start pulling your blue blocks to keep a steady stream of ants moving up the outer edges. You can queue up two or three blue blocks if you have the space available. The blue sections are large enough to support a massive number of ants at once. Make sure to leave at least one slot open for other colors. You will need that open space as the center of the face continues to clear.
Step 7: Clear the dark pupils and purple highlights inside the eyes
While the blue background shrinks the ants in the center are ready for the dark inner details of the eyes. Send up your dark blocks to clear the large pupils. Once those tiles vanish the purple highlight tiles become available. Pull your purple block to finish off these tiny color details. Clearing the pupils opens up the top half of the orange head. It also exposes the upper outline of the fish. This removes the last major roadblock in the center of the picture. Your paths are now very wide and lead directly to the top edge.
Step 8: Focus on the remaining orange tiles at the top of the head
You are now approaching the very end of the board. The only things left are the top curved edge of the orange head the upper dark outline and the top corners of the blue background. Pull your remaining orange blocks to clear the head. Because the path is now much narrower the ants will take a little longer to travel all the way up to the top. Do not panic and do not flood your slots with extra blocks. Be patient and let the numbers tick down naturally. The orange body will completely disappear. This leaves just the dark outline and the blue background waiting for the final ants.
Step 9: Drain the final blue and dark blocks to finish the level
With the body fully gone you have direct access to the remaining dark outline and the top blue background tiles. Pull your last dark block to clear the final pieces of the outline. Then pull your remaining blue blocks into the tray. The ants will travel all the way to the top corners of the board. They will quickly consume the last few blue tiles. Watch your waiting slots empty out completely as the final ants return. The picture is now completely clear and you win the level.
Final Thought
Level 38 tests your patience and your ability to manage connected blocks under pressure. You must resist the urge to pull blocks before their paths are ready especially when two colors are linked together. Always prioritize the color that has the widest opening to keep your slots rotating smoothly. If you struggle with the exact timing of the connected boxes I highly recommend watching the video above this article to see the proper order of operations in motion.
