Welcome to another puzzle guide. Today we are looking at Colony Flow Level 499 and it brings a fantastic challenge to your screen. The board gives you a colorful pixel art picture of a duck wearing a hat but huge chocolate chunks block your progress. I play through every stage to figure out the best routes so you do not have to guess. Let me show you exactly how to break the candy shell and feed your colony without getting stuck.
Colony Flow Level 499 Overview
What You Are Working With
When the board loads you see a large duck sitting in the middle of a bright green square. The duck has a white body with a yellow beak and orange feet. A thick black outline separates the bird from the green background. The duck wears a blue and red baseball cap on its head. Two massive blocks of brown chocolate sit on top of the picture and ruin the design. The top chocolate chunk covers the beak and demands a whopping 250 points to break. The second chocolate chunk sits on the right side of the body and requires 160 points. The nest hole sits at the bottom center of your screen. Every single ant spawns from this hole and marches upward to eat the tiles.
What It Takes to Clear Level 499 Board
You win the game when your colony eats every single colored tile and the board is completely empty. The chocolate creates a major roadblock because your ants cannot eat the food tiles underneath until the candy shell is completely gone. You have to send hundreds of ants crashing into the chocolate just to break the barrier. Your tray at the bottom holds five waiting slots. If you pull a block and the ants have no open path to reach their matching color the block sits in the tray. If all five tray slots fill up with stuck blocks you fail the stage. You must manage your active colors carefully to keep the ants moving and the tray empty.
Colony Flow Level 499 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Open the bottom space around the nest.
You need to give your ants room to breathe before you do anything else. The green background tiles come right down to the edge of the nest hole. Grab a small green block from your tray and pull it up to an active slot. The green ants will pour out and eat the tiles closest to the hole. This creates a tiny pocket of empty space at the bottom of the board. Having this space prevents your ants from bottlenecking when they first leave the nest. Always clear the immediate entry path first so your larger swarms have room to maneuver later. The more open the bottom area is the faster your colony can reach the outer edges of the puzzle.
Step 2: Break down the right side chocolate block.
Now that your ants have room to walk you must deal with the chocolate on the right wing. This block demands 160 points before it breaks. Pull your highest number blocks that match the colors bordering that chocolate piece. The ants will march up the right side and slam into the thick brown block. You will see the counter drop rapidly as the swarm hits the target. Keep feeding matched blocks into your active tray until the 160 drops all the way to zero. The chocolate will shatter and reveal the white duck feathers underneath. Breaking this early is incredibly helpful because it unlocks the right side of the main figure.
Step 3: Whittle down the massive beak chocolate.
The top left chocolate block is much heavier and requires 250 points. This takes a massive amount of effort to break. Look for high value blocks in your tray and pull colors that have paths leading up the left side of the screen. Send your ants straight up the left edge to hit that huge brown block. You do not need to break it entirely right now but you must get that number down into the double digits. Leave one or two slots open in your tray so you can pivot to other colors if the left path gets too crowded. Hitting the big chocolate in waves ensures you never fill your five tray slots with unusable numbers.
Step 4: Clear the bottom green background tiles.
With the body chocolate out of the way you can focus on opening up the lower half of the puzzle. Pull your large green blocks and let the green ants eat away the grass colored tiles below the duck. This creates a wide open highway for your colony to travel. Opening the bottom board early prevents traffic jams near the nest hole. Your ants need space to spread out and find their individual targets. Keep matching green blocks until the entire bottom third of the picture is completely empty.
Step 5: Eat the white belly feathers.
The largest portion of this pixel duck is the solid white body. Grab your white numbered blocks and pull them into the active slots. White ants will pour out and swarm the bottom of the duck. The body takes up so much space that you can safely pull multiple white blocks at the same time without risking a tray jam. Watch the white tiles vanish as the ants move higher up the chest and neck. Eating the white interior leaves the black outline standing by itself. You will notice the board looks much cleaner once the bulky white section is completely gone.
Step 6: Remove the orange feet and tail details.
You now have a massive clear path to the smaller details on the bird. Bring up your yellow and orange blocks to send ants after the feet at the very bottom. There are also a few peach colored tail feathers on the right side that you can clear right now. Isolating these small color groups early prevents them from getting buried behind larger blocks later. Getting the small extremities off the board breaks the puzzle into neat distinct zones. This makes it much easier to isolate the remaining colors and plan your next pulls. You always want to eliminate the rarest colors on the board quickly.
Step 7: Shatter the last pieces of beak chocolate.
Return your attention to the top left corner. That 250 point chocolate block should be extremely weak by now. Pull a heavy yellow block to send yellow ants swarming up to the duck bill. The ants will finish off the last remaining chocolate points and then immediately eat the yellow bill tiles underneath. Getting this final chocolate barrier off the board is a massive relief. You now have full access to every single colored tile left on the screen.
Step 8: Dissolve the thick black outline.
The duck features a thick black border that snakes all the way around the body and head. Start pulling your black blocks from the bottom tray. The black ants will march up and eat the outline starting from the bottom and working their way up to the hat. Breaking the black outline is deeply satisfying because it completely severs the connection between the duck and the green background. Always ensure the black ants have a valid path before you pull a heavy black block into your tray. You never want a large number sitting stuck in your waiting area while you need to cycle through other colors.
Step 9: Erase the red and blue baseball cap.
The duck wears a backward baseball cap made of red and blue tiles. Pull your red blocks and blue blocks to unleash those specific ants. The ants will travel all the way up the empty center space to reach the top of the duck head. Alternate between red and blue blocks to keep the paths flowing smoothly. Careful color management here guarantees you finish the duck head without clogging your limited tray space. You might need to wait for a blue ant to finish eating before a red ant can move in. Once the hat is gone the entire center of the board is completely empty.
Step 10: Sweep the remaining green background.
You are now left with a giant green border framing the top half of the screen. The duck is completely gone and you only have one color left to manage. Pull every green block you have in your lower tray. Huge swarms of green ants will flood the board and travel up the left and right sides. They will eat away the remaining green background tiles from the bottom up. Keep feeding green blocks into your tray until the final tile disappears. Watch the ants swarm the final corner pieces at the top left and top right. You win the level when the last green square vanishes.
Final Thought
This puzzle requires you to balance heavy chocolate breaking with careful tray management. If you take your time and open the bottom board first you will have no trouble finding paths for your ants.
