Welcome back to another puzzle guide. Today we are tackling Colony Flow Level 198 and it presents a beautiful winter scene that requires some very careful strategy to beat. This puzzle forces you to manage your tray space perfectly because the picture features massive sections of solid colors and locked blocks that temporarily block your progress. I play every single level myself to find the best path forward and I will walk you through exactly how I clear this board without getting stuck. You have to think ahead to keep your ants moving and avoid filling up your tray.
Colony Flow Level 198 Overview
What You Are Working With
The pixel art on this board shows a large orange fox sitting in a winter landscape. The fox wears a bright green scarf around its neck and has dark brown details on its ears and nose. A thick layer of white snow runs all along the bottom edge of the picture. Above the fox is a giant cyan sky featuring a white snowflake in the top left corner. You also have two special mechanics to deal with on this board. First we have the Lock and Key tiles. You will spot keys embedded near the front and back paws of the fox. These keys correspond to padlocks that are currently freezing certain blocks in your tray. Second we have Connected Boxes. These are two separate color blocks joined together by a visible link in your tray.
What It Takes to Clear Level 198 Board
Winning this board means you must navigate around the massive orange and cyan sections while managing the special tiles. The core challenge of this game is keeping your five waiting slots from jamming. If you fill all five slots and the ants cannot reach the colors you pulled you instantly lose the level. You have to collect the keys from the board to unlock the padlocks in your tray. You also have to handle the Connected Boxes with perfect timing. When you pull a connected box both of the linked colors go into your five waiting slots at the exact same time. If the ants cannot reach both of those colors on the board your slots will fill up and put you in serious danger. You must always clear a wide open path to the specific colors you need before you pull any blocks from the bottom tray.
Colony Flow Level 198 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Pull the initial orange and cyan blocks to reduce the large tail and outer sky.
We start our attack on the giant orange tail on the right side of the board and the outer edges of the sky. The tile count on that orange tail is huge at the beginning. You need to pull the first orange blocks from your tray to send a swarm of ants to start eating the tail. At the very same time you should pull the first available cyan blocks to start eating away at the left and right edges of the blue sky. You will see a solid stream of tiny ants march out of the dark nest hole at the bottom of the screen. They will travel up the right side of the screen to reach the orange tail. Meanwhile the cyan ants will fan out towards the left and right borders of the picture. Watching them work simultaneously is very helpful because it ensures your blocks drain faster. The waiting slots at the bottom of your screen will clear out quickly because the paths to the tail and the sky are completely exposed right from the start. You never want to leave a block sitting in your tray slots if the ants cannot reach that specific color. Pulling the cyan and orange early ensures a steady flow of ants out of the nest hole.
Step 2: Clear the white snow along the bottom edge to uncover the first hidden key.
Your next priority is the thick layer of white snow lining the entire bottom of the picture. Pulling the large white blocks from your tray sends your ants marching straight to that bottom edge. The snow tiles are blocking your access to the lower legs of the fox and the keys you desperately need. When you tap the white blocks you will notice the numbers on the blocks count down quickly as each ant grabs a white tile. The ants clear the snow layer by layer from the outside moving inwards. Once they reach the back paw area they uncover the key. Collecting the key automatically unlocks one of the padlocks sitting in your tray and frees up new blocks for you to use. Keep a close eye on your five waiting slots during this phase. Only tap the white blocks when you know the ants have a clear unobstructed path to the snow. The snow clears out quickly and opens up the lower half of the board for your next moves.
Step 3: Deploy the connected white and cyan blocks safely without jamming your tray slots.
You will notice several blocks in your tray that are linked together. When you tap a connected box both of the attached colors move up into your waiting slots at the exact same time. Connected boxes can easily ruin your run if you tap them blindly. The physical rod connecting the two blocks in your tray means they travel together. If you tap a connected white and cyan block but the white snow is completely buried behind other colors the white block will just sit in your slot and refuse to count down. This takes up valuable space. By clearing the outer snow and sky first you guarantee that both the white and cyan ants have immediate targets. Since you already opened up the sky and the snow in the previous steps the ants will stream out of the nest and eat both colors simultaneously. The connected blocks will count down quickly and vanish from your slots. This perfect timing keeps you completely safe from a fatal jam.
Step 4: Collect the green key to unlock the green tray blocks and clear the scarf.
As the ants finish clearing the middle section of the snow they will finally reach the front paw of the fox. This area holds the second key which you need to progress. Once the ants grab this key the corresponding padlock in your tray opens up instantly. Now you can safely pull the green blocks up into your waiting slots. The scarf is nestled right in the middle of the picture so it remains inaccessible until the snow and the front paw are completely cleared. Tap the green blocks and watch the ants climb up the cleared bottom section to attack the scarf. During this phase you can also pull the small brown blocks from your tray. The ants will use these brown blocks to clear the dark details on the ears and the tip of the nose. The brown details are small but they require their own dedicated blocks. Keep an eye on your slots and only pull the brown blocks when the ants have a clear run past the scarf and up to the head.
Step 5: Clear the remaining orange tiles to finish the entire body of the fox.
With the green scarf and the white snow completely out of the way the entire orange body of the fox is now fully exposed. You will see several large orange blocks left in your bottom tray. The orange blocks left in your tray contain very high numbers because the main body of the fox takes up a massive portion of the picture. Do not pull all of the orange blocks at the exact same time. Pull one or two large orange blocks and let the ants do their work. They will eat the legs the torso and the lower half of the head. As the numbers on the blocks drop to zero you can pull the next orange block from the tray. This pacing guarantees that your five slots never hit maximum capacity. Your waiting slots will remain empty and ready for the final cleanup moves. Always wait for the previous colors to finish their work before you pull these big numbers.
Step 6: Clear the massive cyan sky and the white snowflake to win the level.
The only things left on the board at this point are a giant block of cyan sky and a single white snowflake sitting in the upper left corner. The cyan sky is the largest single color section on the entire board. You have multiple massive cyan blocks waiting in your tray for this exact moment. Before you unleash the cyan ants make sure you pull the white block to deal with the snowflake. The snowflake is entirely surrounded by the sky so pulling the white block early gets it out of the way. Once the white block finishes counting down tap every remaining cyan block in your tray. A massive swarm of ants will pour out of the nest and cover the entire background of the board. They will eat the rest of the sky from the bottom up in a matter of seconds. They will chew through the final rows of blue pixels at the very top of the board and completely clear the screen. The level ends in a win as soon as the very last cyan tile disappears.
Final Thought
Colony Flow Level 198 tests your patience and your ability to manage multiple colors at once. The trick is always watching your five waiting slots and making sure the ants have an open path to the board. Pacing your block pulls prevents sudden traffic jams and keeps the ants moving efficiently. If you ever feel stuck on a specific section I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article to see the exact timing in action. Keep your board clear and you will beat this level on your next try.
