Colony Flow Level 99 presents a fun challenge featuring a retro television set made of colorful pixel art. You must manage your active slots carefully while breaking through large barriers that block the center of the screen. I play every level myself and I am here to walk you through the exact sequence of moves to claim victory.
Colony Flow Level 99 Overview
What You Are Working With
When you first load the board you see a pixel art television set resting on a plain white background. The television has a thick dark grey outer outline and a bright orange screen border. On top of the television sits a light blue antenna. Inside the television screen you see a dark purple background. Two massive blocks cover the very center of the screen. One is a green Hungry Door requiring 30 green ants to open. The other is a brown Hungry Door requiring 20 brown ants to open. These Hungry Doors cover and block the food tiles underneath until cleared. Down in your tray you have a wide variety of colored blocks with large numbers printed on them. You also encounter Connected Boxes in this level. These are two or more boxes linked together with a visible connecting line and they clear from the tray as a single group when you tap them.
What It Takes to Clear Level 99 Board
Winning this level requires you to peel the picture away layer by layer. You start by clearing the white background and the dark grey outer outline. This opens up the board and allows your ants to reach the inner orange border and the light blue antenna. You then focus on feeding the required green and brown ants to the Hungry Doors in the center of the screen. Once you clear these Hungry Doors they disappear and reveal a hidden test pattern of color bars underneath. You must then clear these freshly revealed yellow and light blue and purple and red tiles. You win the level when the entire television is gone and the final ants return to the nest hole. You lose the level if you pull the wrong colors and fill your five active slots with blocks that have no open paths to the board.
Colony Flow Level 99 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Clear the white background and dark grey outline
You start the level by pulling a 40 white block and a 42 dark grey block from the tray. The white ants stream out of the nest hole and begin eating away the large white background surrounding the television set. The dark grey ants march toward the bottom edge and start munching on the outer outline of the television. This early move creates a solid opening around the edges of the picture and gives your ants plenty of room to operate. You keep your active slots clear by letting these large numbers do their work without crowding the board. The ants have plenty of exposed food to eat so they never stall. You wait a brief moment for the paths to widen before pulling your next blocks from the tray.
Step 2: Bring out the light blue and orange ants
With the outer edges clearing rapidly you pull the 10 light blue block to send ants up to the antenna. You also grab the 42 orange block to target the bright orange border of the television screen. You bring up another 40 white block from the tray to finish off the remaining background pixels on the right side of the board. Your active slots hold some leftover numbers for a short time but the paths remain wide open and the ants flow freely. The orange ants wrap around the thick screen border and make excellent progress toward the top corners. The light blue ants effortlessly chew through the antenna at the highest point of the board.
Step 3: Attack the green Hungry Door
You now have open access to the large green Hungry Door in the center of the screen that requires 30 green ants. You pull the 18 green block from the tray to begin the assault on this obstacle. The green ants march straight into the center of the television and start dropping the number on the green Hungry Door. You also pull a pair of 35 orange blocks that are linked together as Connected Boxes. Because they are Connected Boxes they move up to the active slots as a single combined group. The fresh wave of orange ants pours out to finish consuming the large orange screen border. You keep your active slots perfectly balanced by always having a valid target for every single color you pull.
Step 4: Continue clearing the grey outline and orange border
You bring up another connected pair of boxes featuring a 40 dark grey block and a 10 light blue block. The dark grey ants continue eating away the remaining bottom and side sections of the television outline. The light blue ants seek out the remaining antenna tiles and clear out of the active slot once their path is totally finished. You also pull another orange block to help clear the very last pieces of the screen border. The green Hungry Door continues to take heavy damage as your green ants finish their 18 block and lower the requirement. The board is now mostly stripped down to the dark purple inner screen and the two large Hungry Doors holding the center.
Step 5: Reduce the dark purple inner screen
You pull a 44 dark purple block to begin clearing the inner screen background. The dark purple ants swarm the inside of the television and eat the tiles surrounding the Hungry Doors. You also pull a 10 light blue block and a 12 white block to clean up any stray pixels lingering on the outer edges of the board. The dark grey outline is now completely gone and the board feels much more open. You bring up a 36 dark purple block to maintain the intense pressure on the inner screen. The Hungry Doors still block the absolute center but the dark purple ants clear everything around them to create even more space for the final moves.
Step 6: Finish the green door and target the brown door
You pull a 12 green block to send the final wave of ants needed to completely clear the green 30 Hungry Door. Once the green Hungry Door vanishes it reveals a beautiful section of vertical color bars hidden underneath. These newly revealed bars include yellow and light blue and green and purple and red tiles that form a classic test pattern. You simultaneously pull a 24 brown block to start working on the brown 20 Hungry Door on the right side of the screen. The brown ants march directly to the brown door and begin chewing its number down to zero. You easily keep your active slots from jamming by ensuring the dark purple and brown paths remain completely open for business.
Step 7: Reveal the remaining hidden color bars
The brown ants quickly finish off the brown Hungry Door. This door disappears and reveals the rest of the hidden food tiles underneath. You now see the full set of color bars inside the television screen along with a few remaining brown tiles. There are tall yellow columns and purple columns and red columns waiting to be eaten by your colony. You have a 27 red block and a 9 light blue block and a 36 yellow block ready in your tray. You pull the 36 yellow block to send a massive swarm of yellow ants straight into the yellow columns. You also pull the 27 red block to tackle the red tiles sitting along the bottom edge of the test pattern.
Step 8: Clear the final colored sections to finish the board
You pull the 9 light blue block and a 12 purple block to clear their respective color bars inside the television screen. The ants flood the remaining vertical bars and rapidly consume the bright colors in perfectly straight lines. You pull a 4 white block and a 1 dark grey block from the very back of the tray to clear the absolute last stray pixels on the entire board. The television screen is now completely empty and the picture is entirely erased. The final ants finish their meals and run back into the nest hole at the bottom of the screen. You successfully keep your active slots flowing the entire time without a single jam. The level ends in a highly satisfying victory.
Final Thought
Colony Flow Level 99 requires you to carefully manage your active slots while breaking down the massive Hungry Doors in the center of the board. You must clear the outer borders first to make room for the inner screen colors and reveal the hidden test pattern. If you follow this specific strategy you will never dead end your board or clog your active slots. Feel free to watch the video above this article if you need to see exactly how these moves play out in real time.
