Welcome to Colony Flow Level 553. This puzzle presents a bright orange and yellow clownfish swimming in a square of blue water. A few patches of green plants sit near the bottom and middle edges of the picture. You have to feed your ant colony all these colored pixels while carefully managing a tray filled with multiple connected boxes. The main challenge comes from timing your moves perfectly so you never run out of waiting slots and lose the level. You must build a reliable sequence of moves from the bottom to the top.
Colony Flow Level 553 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture on this board features a large central clownfish made of orange tiles and yellow tiles. Thick dark red vertical stripes cross the body of the fish from top to bottom. The entire background consists of bright blue water tiles filling out a large square shape. You will also see small sections of green plant tiles on the lower left side and the middle left edge of the water. Your block tray at the bottom of the screen holds the numbered color blocks you need to complete the board. This specific level features a very high number of connected boxes. Connected boxes link two or three different colors together with a thick solid line. When you pull one of these groups from the tray into your waiting slots you must bring the whole group at once. You have exactly five empty waiting slots to hold your active blocks.
What It Takes to Clear Level 553 Board
Winning this level requires you to clear every single pixel tile from the picture. You pull the correct colored blocks from the tray and place them into the waiting slots. The ants stream out of the nest hole at the bottom of the screen and travel up the board to the matching color tiles. They break down the tiles and carry the food back to the hole. The number on your active block counts down with every single tile the ants collect. You complete the board when all the tiles vanish and the ants finish their work. You lose the level if you fill all five waiting slots with blocks that have no clear path to their matching colors. If the ants cannot reach the right tiles the blocks sit in the slots forever and block any future moves. You must always maintain an open route to the colors you select so the slots never jam.
Colony Flow Level 553 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: Open the bottom corners of the board.
You start by pulling the green and blue connected boxes from the middle layer of the tray. The green block holds a high number and connects directly to a blue block. The green ants stream out of the nest and head to the bottom left side of the board. They start eating the large patch of green plant tiles. At the exact same time the blue ants travel to the bottom right side to clear the blue water tiles. These two actions open up a wide empty path on both sides of the central fish. The numbers on your green and blue blocks will count down steadily. Wait for these blocks to clear completely before you pull too many new colors into your slots.
Step 2: Attack the thick dark red stripes.
Bring up the red and yellow connected boxes next once you have some free space. The dark red tiles make up the thick vertical stripes on the clownfish body. The yellow tiles form the lighter stripes sitting right next to the red ones. The red ants march straight up the middle of the board and start chewing through the very bottom of the first dark red stripe. The yellow ants follow right behind them and target the lower yellow sections. The red block starts with a high number and takes a significant amount of time for the ants to clear. You must monitor your available slot space closely during this long process to avoid a jam.
Step 3: Send blue ants up the outer edges.
Pull another large blue block into the active slots to keep the water clearing on the outer edges. The blue ants will stream up the left and right sides of the board through the empty spaces you opened in the very first step. This creates a wide open perimeter around the central fish body. Having an open perimeter ensures the blue blocks in your waiting slots never get stuck behind other colors. The blue ants can always find a valid path to the remaining water tiles along the sides. The blue block will count down and vanish from your waiting area to free up a valuable slot.
Step 4: Clear the orange lower belly.
Move the large orange block up from the bottom of the tray into your waiting area. The orange ants rush straight up the center path to eat the bottom section of the clownfish body. The orange block counts down very fast because the tiles sit right above the nest hole. The short travel distance means the ants collect the food and clear the block rapidly. This quick action frees up a waiting slot right when you need it most. You now have the entire lower half of the picture completely clear of tiles and ready for the next wave of ants.
Step 5: Navigate a crowded waiting tray.
You will reach a point where you need to pull multiple blue blocks along with red and yellow blocks to keep the board moving. Your five waiting slots will fill up completely. This stands as the most dangerous moment in the entire level. You must ensure the blue ants have a direct unbroken path to the top left and top right water tiles before you pull the last block. The red ants and yellow ants will continue working on the middle stripes of the fish. As long as the blue ants can travel up the sides of the empty board they will reach their targets. The blue blocks will count down and clear out just in time to save you from a jammed board.
Step 6: Deploy the triple connected boxes.
Pull the long group of connected boxes featuring yellow and orange blocks into your available slots. This triple connected group takes up a massive amount of space in your waiting area all at once. The yellow ants finish the upper yellow stripes on the fish body. The orange ants swarm the top half of the fish face and the upper back fin. The ants have a huge open area to cross so they travel quickly without bumping into each other. The numbers on the yellow and orange blocks drop rapidly as the ants chew through the remaining body of the clownfish. You will see the main shape of the fish completely disappear once these blocks finish.
Step 7: Clear the upper left green plants.
Bring up the final long chain of connected boxes that includes a green block. The green ants march all the way up the left side of the empty board to reach the final patch of green plant tiles. These tiles sit right near the top left corner of the picture. The green ants have a clear run up the side so they face no traffic delays. The remaining orange and yellow blocks in that connected chain will clear the very last pieces of the top fin. The board now only contains a thin layer of blue water tiles across the very top edge.
Step 8: Finish the top blue water.
Pull the final two blue blocks from the bottom of your tray. The blue ants travel up the wide open center path and spread out along the very top edge of the picture. They eat the remaining blue water tiles moving from left to right. The numbers on your final blue blocks drop exactly to zero. The last ants carry their food back down the long empty board and drop it into the nest hole. The picture is completely gone and you win the level.
Final Thought
Managing the large connected boxes serves as the absolute key to winning this board without jamming your slots. You must always watch your outer pathing when dealing with high number blocks. I highly encourage you to watch the video above this article if any step is hard to follow in text. The video shows the exact timing needed to keep your ant colony moving smoothly from start to finish.
