Welcome back to my puzzle gaming guides. Today I am walking you through Colony Flow Level 12. This puzzle presents a fun pixel art mandarin cat that requires careful block management to solve. The board features multiple colors heavily blocked by a thick outer border. I play every single level myself and I will walk you through exactly how I clear this board without letting the waiting slots fill up. Let us get those ants moving and beat this level together.
Colony Flow Level 12 Overview
What You Are Working With
The picture at the top of your screen is a cute pixel art cat resting flat on the ground. The cat features a bright orange and yellow body with a dark purple outline and two green leaves sprouting from the top of its head. A solid white background entirely surrounds the cat character. Down in the tray you start with a top row of four white blocks holding thirty ants each. Below those white blocks you will find a green block holding thirteen ants and a yellow block holding thirty ants. You will also see several Hidden Boxes marked with question marks. A Hidden Box hides its true color until it has a valid path to move. You have five waiting slots available above the tray to hold your pulled blocks.
Level 12 Objective
You clear Level 12 by matching colored blocks from the tray to all the corresponding colored tiles in the cat picture. You must feed the blocks into the five waiting slots so your ants can march up and eat the pixels. You win the level when every single tile is gone and your ants finish the board. You lose the level if you fill all five waiting slots with colors that cannot reach their matching tiles. You must always maintain an open path for at least one color to prevent a jam.
Colony Flow Level 12 Step by Step Solution
Step 1: pull the initial white blocks to clear the outer background
The solid white background completely blocks the ants from reaching the main cat character. You must open a path by pulling the white blocks from the very top row of the tray into your waiting slots. Grab three of the white blocks holding thirty ants each and place them into the slots. The white ants will stream out of the nest hole located at the bottom center of the screen. They will travel up the extreme left and right sides of the board. The ants begin eating the outer border of the solid white background. This action creates the open physical space your other colored ants will need to access the dark purple outline of the pixel art cat. You should not pull all four white blocks at once. You must save room in your five waiting slots for the next required colors. If you fill all five slots with white blocks early on you will stall the board.
Step 2: introduce dark purple and green blocks to start the outline
With the white border thinning out you can now access the dark purple outline at the bottom of the cat. Pull a dark purple block holding twenty four ants and a green block holding thirteen ants into your open waiting slots. The dark purple ants will march straight up from the nest hole and start consuming the bottom horizontal edge of the cat outline. The green ants will also deploy out of the hole but they have a much longer journey ahead of them. They must march all the way up the newly cleared white side paths to reach the two green leaves sitting on the head of the cat. Releasing these two specific colors early ensures the ants start working on the top and bottom borders simultaneously. Your waiting slots will show the numerical values ticking down steadily as the insects leave to do their jobs.
Step 3: activate the yellow blocks to open the cat belly
The dark purple ants clearing the bottom outline expose the yellow tiles that make up the lower body of the cat. Pull a yellow block into one of your freed up waiting slots. A large group of yellow ants will surge upward from the nest hole and flood the center area of the board. They will start clearing the yellow pixels that make up the belly and the lower face area of the picture. As they eat away the yellow tiles they expose the orange tiles located higher up on the body. You must pay close attention to the block tray because pulling these yellow blocks uncovers the Hidden Boxes sitting below them. The Hidden Boxes require a valid path to move before they reveal themselves as orange blocks and more white blocks. You need these hidden blocks to finish the level so uncovering them early is your main priority here.
Step 4: pull orange blocks to clear the cat face and tail
Now that the yellow ants have hollowed out the bottom section you have a direct open path to the orange regions. Pull the newly revealed orange blocks holding twenty or twenty five ants into your waiting slots. A massive swarm of orange ants will travel up the middle path and split into two different directions. One group will attack the bright orange pixels forming the face of the cat while the other group targets the large bulky orange tail on the right side. Keep a close eye on your waiting slots during this heavy flow of insects. You should always leave at least one slot totally empty just in case you need to pull a different color to unblock a jammed path. The orange block numbers will tick down rapidly as the ants chew through the thick tail section.
Step 5: deploy more white blocks to finish the top corners
The orange and yellow ants are busy in the center but the top corners of the white background still remain untouched. Pull another large white block from the tray into a free slot. These white ants will march up the extreme left and right edges of the board to reach the top corner sections. They have a very long distance to travel so getting them moving now saves you a lot of time. As they clear the top white tiles they expose the upper sections of the dark purple outline and the very top edge of the green leaves. Your waiting slots will likely hold a mixed combination of white blocks and orange blocks and yellow blocks right now. This is a completely safe state as long as all those specific colors have open paths to their matching tiles on the board.
Step 6: clear the remaining green leaves and upper outline
The top of the board is now fully exposed for your remaining ants. Pull another green block and a dark purple block from the lower section of the tray. The green ants will finish off the remaining green pixels of the leaves on the head of the cat. The dark purple ants will travel up the side paths to eat the top edge of the outline. You will see the picture breaking apart into floating fragments as the structural tiles disappear. The dark purple outline pieces will look totally disconnected from each other but the ants will naturally find a path to every single one. Just let the numbers in the slots tick down to zero and avoid pulling unnecessary blocks from the tray.
Step 7: empty the final orange blocks to complete the board
Only a few stray orange tiles remain in the tail area and a couple of dark purple pixels scattered around the extreme edges. Your tray will show the final orange blocks available to pull. Pull the last orange block into your remaining open slot. The final wave of orange ants will rush up the right side and devour the last remaining pieces of the tail. The board will become completely empty. The waiting slots will clear out entirely and you will win the level. You successfully managed the flow without ever jamming the five slots.
Overall Strategy to Clear Level 12 Board
- Clear the outer white background early so your ants can reach the top of the cat picture. The solid white tiles block all access to the upper green leaves and the top dark purple outline.
- Target the bottom dark purple outline as soon as the white border recedes. Breaking that bottom barrier is the only way to let the yellow and orange ants inside the main body of the cat.
- Manage the Hidden Boxes in the middle of the tray carefully. You must pull the yellow and green blocks sitting above them to give the hidden blocks a valid path to move and reveal their true colors.
- Send the green ants up the sides early while the yellow ants work the middle. The green leaves take a long time to reach so deploying green blocks early prevents them from getting stuck in your waiting slots later in the game.
Final Thought
That is everything you need to know to beat this specific board. Managing the hidden boxes and timing the long walks for the green ants will get you the win. Please watch the video above this article if any step is hard to follow in text. Good luck and keep those paths open.
